What's funny is Laura becomes absolute meme material in the second half from what I've heard & read! Seri was just nuts. But Laura? Comedic queen! π
She was a sociopath, but I'd say it was good. If you want a psychological thriller without any romance and a villain…
You're welcome. Ohhh, okay. That makes a lot of sense!
Jung Sol-Mi? π€ I don't think she's in this drama. But Go Hyun-Jung and Park Jin-Hee are. The drama made me a real Park Jin-Hee (and Go Hyun-Jung) fan, I can say that for sure! Haha. The funniest thing is, compared to other makjang dramas or dramas with makjang tropes, Return feels like a noir/crime drama. I used to mainly just watch makjang dramas (+ romcoms), and while I do love them, my taste is definitely changing. I'm gettimg more into crime & political/psychological thrillers. Melodramas do have my heart though.
The behind the scenes drama for Return leading up to the FL being recasted was WILD... so, so messy. π Even before that, there was major drama.
I'm shocked that Kim Yoo Jung isn't nominated in Baeksang :-O
These are more of the legendary/iconic actresses! I haven't seen Kim Mi-Kyung or Choo Ja-Hyun in any dramas yet, but I'll check them out. If Seo Woo were still acting, she could pull off Baek Ah-Jin too- those big eyes of hers would work so well. Very creepy.

It depends on the actor/actress for sure. There are several I can think of who'd nail this role: Go Hyun-Jung (she was basically Baek Ah-Jin 2.0 in Queen Mantis), Lee So-Yeon, Ha Ji-Won... I think this would be considered Kim Yoo-Jung's most iconic role, though.
I'd watch it, though there are various flaws plot and character-wise.
Oh yeah, he's the ML and the protagonist. Me personally I rooted for Chu Sang-Ah (the FL) throughout the drama. When that scene actually happened, I completely hated him. MASSIVE YIKES!

Ohhhh, thank you so much for these recommendations! I've copied them down!
I also recommend Return which is another legal/crime mystery-thriller. It has *some* makjang tropes, but at its core is a murder-mystery involving the elite. The FL and ML (a lawyer with a court TV show and a hot-tempered detective) team up to solve the murder, but the victim has connections to everyone's pasts...
It was a great watch for me. 34 episodes, 30 minutes each. Despite the FL recast, I enjoyed it a lot.

Understandable! I was giving additional context. Regarding legal dramas, do you have any recommendations? I've been getting into them and crime & political dramas lately.
