If they were truly sticking to the novel, what happened to his friend wouldn’t be the only reason for his trauma. He would return to Eastern Country, where even more events would take place.
AvenueX ranted this drama already 😐 All I see in the comment sections are also people fighting at each other…
I just watched the video too, and as much as it pains me to admit, I agreed with almost everything she said. 😭 Almost—because I still don’t share her opinion about this drama resembling DOTS. That aside, I’m relieved she only watched up to the second episode. I’m not sure I’d be ready to hear what else she’d have to say.

I literally sighed the second Li Zan let Song Ran tag along to find Jiang Yu. That kid was already on edge, and bringing her along.. that was just asking for trouble. 😂

When Li Zan found Jiang Yu, he was about to defend himself, but the moment he saw Song Ran, it was as if he saw red. He probably assumed that since Li Zan arrived with her, it meant Li Zan had already taken her side—believing everything she said and condemning him regardless.

I’ve never had personal experience with it, so all I can do is approach it with logical thinking as much as possible. I hope you get enough rest because today’s episodes weren’t exactly easy to watch, at least for me. There were several things that rubbed me the wrong way, but I tried not to let them affect me too much because, at the end of the day, I don’t have firsthand experience to make a scientific judgment. Just some thoughts purely from a viewer’s perspective. 😄

That might have something to do with her mental state since the situation reminded her of the kids in Eastern Country. She even had a monologue about how she failed to protect them—so how could she let herself fail another child in her own country? But after that, she kind of shut herself off from seeing anyone else’s point of view.

As a journalist, you'd think she'd double-check her facts before making a public comment. But no, even after Li Zan tried to explain, she refused to budge. Her stubbornness in Episode 15 was beyond frustrating. 😭
Ep 15 - Song Ran kept asking why no one understood her, and I guess I don't as well. I get that she is in a vulnerable…
You mean episode 15? But anyway, Song Ran experienced firsthand how painful words on the internet can be, yet she went and did the same to others. There are always two sides to a story, but she immediately took the first one she heard as the truth. 😔
Only on episode 3 and don't know how to put it but it's definitely weird. One minute she is in China and another…
I see that your critical thinking button is still on. I’d suggest turning it off for a bit if you want to enjoy this drama. 😭😭 I’m on episode 14, and I’m still shaking my head every few minutes.

From what I’ve seen on Weibo, many of his fans are also complaining about his limited screen time. We’re approaching the middle of the journey, yet the drama hasn’t even covered half the plot of the novel. They better not rush the ending. 🙃
After this, we’ll probably have to wait a year or more to see him in another modern drama, which is why fans aren’t happy with how things are going right now.

It’s unfortunate that they chose to amplify the romance (which was expected, given it’s a romance drama) but ended up neglecting quite a lot of the logical aspects in the process. 🙃 Fingers crossed for the upcoming episodes to better and better.

Waiting for this drama to air felt like waiting for something incredible to happen, but all I got is disappointment after disappointment. Li Zan is getting sidelined in these episodes, which is just so wrong. The way they’ve made it seem like Song Ran’s pain overshadows his is frustrating, especially when it's clear he’s the one who’s been suffering the most. Even after all of that, he’s still putting her needs first, cheering her up. I've been watching in 1.5x speed, and in some scenes even 2x.

They dragged out the beginning, then rushed through the crucial parts—I feel like this drama is toying with me emotionally, not just with the story itself but with how they’ve handled everything. It’s honestly frustrating to watch. And that’s exactly why I said that if Zheyuan hadn’t personally confirmed that these episodes were just from a different perspective, I’d still think they completely sidelined him.
Honestly, I relate to that last part. If it weren’t for Zheyuan, I probably would’ve dropped this and just go back to read the novel again. 🥲

I get it—I’m not saying the romance wasn’t there before the incident. But ((((personally))), I still feel like their relationship lacks depth. There’s something missing, something that would make his decision to heal for her feel more natural. Right now, it just doesn’t quite hit the mark for me.
And, if you’re just going to force your thoughts on me, then don’t argue with me—there’s no point in an endless back-and-forth. I shared my opinion respectfully, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

But yeah honestly, I just don't think healing from mental illness is something that can be simplified like that.
