Thank you so much. I was reluctant to believe that this dream was happenning in the novel. It looked so weid to watch that. And so logical for XY to supect CX.

The drama is built around Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao.
I clearly see that Xiang Liu is the main character in this drama, with Xiao Yao.

When he arrived in XY's life, he is presented like a Male Lead :
She is singing by a waterfall hoping the lure a Feifei with her song.
An suddenly:
Landscape view + Close-up on XL+ Slow motion on XL listening to XY's ( mermaid ^^) song and we discover his profil + light overexposure.

This is the common introduction of a male lead. He is the only character who ticks all the boxes with XY. Unfortunatly she was never able to openly love him :

His blood is poisonnous, he can't be poisonned => her blood is an antidote, she can eat poison.

He has a huge attraction for her but refuses to let that happen=> She has a huge attraction for him but fears to let that happen.

She is longing for him unconsciously ( memory mirror, and all the times she stays waiting for him to come on the beach) => He hugs her, caresses her, kisses her when she is uncouncious or K.O.

She was dressed as a bride in (red) on the beach waiting => Meanwhile he was dressed as a groom (red) in the floating Shell bar receiving her last gift : the mermaid (love song) nupcial orb.

She gives him several opportunities to follow him and at the end she has harsh words => He asks her to follow him and withdraws; He says he fell in love at first sight and withdraws; He almost touches her and withdraws; he almost kisses her and withdraws.

He was tortured as a child, escaped and joined a group of mortals (army) => Ditto for her. + She adopted abandonned kids and created her mortal family.

All the elements show that the true couple in this story is XY and XL. The star-crossed lovers.

Ps : They introduced TSJ the same way but XY was not singing, music was playing by the way.
Unfortunatly the level of connection is not the same.

I completed the 2 seasons and I am in love with the story of Xiang liu.
TJC's acting was superb as a result, Xiang Liu outshined completely Cang Xuan and Tushan Jin in the drama.
Someone said that he had 14% screentime in season 2 ( 7% in season 1).
regardless of that, to me, he is the male lead . He has such a beautiful character development.

The more my heart fluttered for him and SY, the more I cried over their star-crossed love story, the more I get curious about the novel now. ^___^

True, SY ends up thinking that SL hated her.
She was completely blind to her/his feelings all along.

Yes, SY lost XL forever because of her traumas, and she is unaware of it.

But also, CX lost SY forever because he chose the path to the throne in order to protect SY in the first place. Sadly, the responsibilities of being en emperor were the main reasons why he became incapable of marrying SY.

A' Nian lost CX forever because she was the replacing sister he spoiled. Unfortunatly, their relationship crumbles from the moment he locates SY.
And it terminates the moment CX is obliged to marry A' Nian in an alliance marriage.

Yes, The smearing campain is pointless.
TJC was so good, that I added his dramas on my Plan To Watch list. I just discovered him and he is now one of my favs.
They will not stand in TJC's way. Talent speaks for itself.

Jingers can't stand the fact that TJC's performance outshined DW's, who has much screentime than he has.
This is unfortunate because XL has a formidable character development, even if he had lesser screentime.
TSJ's character isn't developed at all.
So, even at the script level, it was obvious that XL was more interresting than TSJ.
This desdain toward XL is groundless and non logical.

Did you forget that she grew up alone and needs company. Hence her mortal family.

In this case she is a wrounded girl who chose a wrounded boy with a short life span.

This is not something she would have done if she was not traumatized.

She chose someone who could live few centaries instead of someone who could live several thousand years with her ( she has a fear of loneliness [ Episode 3 ]) . Even if she had huge attraction for him.

This tells me that it was not the good choice. She would have not done that if she was in her right mind.

TSJ was cute and needy but he was the choice of a broken XY who will shortely become a widow.
Her choice doesn't make sens given her fear of loneliness.

What I get from the writter in this drama is that :
a damage girl will make poor choices and choose a damaged boy.
If the damaged XY had healed she could have chosen a healthier partner.

My heart fluttered so much and my eyes were in tears almost everytime he was on screen. His acting really triggered my emotions.
Xiang Liu was born thanks to him. He is definitly one of my favourite actors now.

Yes, CGI is awesome in this show.

The script is well written. So this is why the debate is passionate.
But the answer of the writter is XY did not make the right choice.
I learned that in the novel TSJ dies 6 months after they left everything behind. She ends up left alone.
To me, this is the answer.
