Started As A funny Cute Story But Later Turned Irritating

The story started nicely. It was funny. The FL was so fun to watch, but as the episodes went by, the story turned boring and irritating for me. The ML & FL had nice chemistry, and it could have been a great drama if the writer had kept the vibe of the initial episodes. Sadly, the writer lost the opportunity by turning it into a melodramatic drama (At least for me it was melodramatic). I did not exactly like the FL's character later on. The story had good potential, but rather went into ashtrey due to poor writing and execution. Overall, I did not like the drama.

It wouldn't have been a disaster if it were a comedy

Things I liked

1 The ML. He's one of my favorite actors but even he couldn't save the disaster of a script. I give it 3 only for him and the premise.

2 The premise. Original and a solid foundation to create a fun and engaging series. They messed up from the start. It turned out to be generic without a hint of humor and too much angst. A failure on all accounts.

Things I hated

1 The untalented ugly FL. With hundreds of talented actresses out there why would you choose someone who can't act and walks around with a frown and too much anger? I don't think she made me are at all for her and no, I don't understand her anger. I'm penniless and I understand that having dreams an not being able to fulfill them is frustrating to say the least, but I don't walk around berating my family and friends because I don't have what I want. Awful character and the actress made it worse.

2 The lack of chemistry between the leads. They were like strangers. No spark, no warmth, and I blame the FL who's as untalented as one can be. Lately I wonder why do I even try with Kdramas. Cdramas seem to have understood the memo and create more compelling stories with great actors.

Losing Money to be a Tycoon

Well, since I’m the first one here, let me be the guiding light as someone who has read the manhua, watched the donghua, and read all 1,674 chapters of the light novel.

Let’s start with what’s different and what’s straight-up bad.

1. The SYSTEM
In the original, Pei Qian had a system, and the system was basically the personality of Mr. Pei himself. What made it hilarious was the constant misunderstanding. The system provided him with funds, sure, but it actually made sense why Pei Qian was trying to lose money while no one else knew about it.
Now? We get this Mr. Sima nonsense. It makes everything feel cheap, outright disgusting, and lowers Pei Qian as a character.

2. Absolute control over Tengda
One of Pei Qian’s core personality traits is that he never relinquishes even an inch of control over Tengda. This is one of the spines of the novel. One of the things that made Pei Qian… Pei Qian.
Secretary Xu was an employee of Tengda. Pei Qian didn’t report to anyone. His word was absolute.

3. The “polymath” misunderstanding
Because of that absolute control and his absurd Midas touch, a massive misunderstanding arose: everyone believed Pei Qian was a polymath. This misunderstanding dragged in the employees, then subtly the entire world.
That’s how he was able to portray himself as a genius without actually trying. Remove this, and the entire illusion collapses.

4. Character origins are butchered
Lv Ming, Lin Wan, Hao Qiong, Huang Sibi, etc. — their origins and personalities are way different. Their original character traits are basically nonexistent. They feel like completely different people who just happen to share the same names.

5. Lin Wan
In the novel, she’s optimistic, capable, and actually useful. Here? The forced romance subplot is honestly killing me.

All in all, these five points summarize everything that’s different. And make no mistake: even though this looks like a “summary,” these points are the backbone of the original. Once you change them, no amount of linear storytelling can ever reach the same destination.

Now, let’s talk about what’s actually good.

1. The humor stands out, especially because the show fully commits to silliness instead of pretending to be serious.
2. The wordplay, poetry, and layered jokes are genuinely clever and make the dialogue feel smart and distinctive.
3. The writing feels refreshing and unpredictable compared to the usual formulaic dramas, and it doesn’t rely on romance to carry itself — the story and comedy do the heavy lifting.
4. It has a clear personality and tone that separates it from mainstream, crowd-pleasing shows.
5. The comedy feels intentional and confident, trusting the audience to keep up instead of over-explaining every joke.

In the end, this isn’t a bad show, but it’s not a faithful one either. It’s fun, it’s clever, and it definitely has its moments but it’s built on the wrong foundation. If you’ve never touched the original, you’ll enjoy it to no end. If you have, you’ll feel exactly where and why it went wrong, and once you see what was lost, no amount of polish can fix it.

Should have been a special ep instead of sequel

The entire plot was ian getting a job abroad and Alt supporting him. Yes i really love this couple. Alt is such a green flag. Ian is a cutie... but i was expected a backstory in the sequel. They left the unanswered questions from season 1 unanswered. Gave us a sequel where they are in a long distance relationship which is not an ideal happy ending. It's like they're doing it on purpose.

This Drama in my own opinion is 60/40

For the ones that would seem interested to start this drama, expect gang wars, family issues, and a bit of romance. Hehe, you might see my ratings higher than the other reviews because this hits close to home (not a gangster). The family POVs are heart wrenching for me, you can see the reality of a big financial problem and what it causes to one. Also, I want to credit how the siblings are very siblings coded in here HAHA. I see me and my sisters will be just as the same as how they fight (in the future).

One detail I noticed is that the title is true to the MC's characteristic (well of course it would). I meant was, the very proof are the friends who stayed along the way, not because they share they same path (whereas their careers are just circling each other) , but because of loyalty and friendship that started back when they were young.

For the romantic side of this show, despite the struggle in the beginning, I liked it. though, I can say that the ending didn't satisfy me so much because it was a confusingly open-ended, whereas you don't know what happened after when it could've been a bit simple if they added one more movement/interaction.

Ok but i feel the story was kinda incomplete

Out of the 3 couples in this universe i feel this one had the most potential with the past trauma, secret crush, fake identity to be with his love etc but... they didn't tell us why Ian was suffering? Why he was scared of the ML? etc... also the story kinda felt choppy like things were happening but you'll be like ok why?? Whats the backstory?

Ji Su our cute cupid 🤭🤭 i love him in all the series. He's always there for his friends in sorrow and to protect them. A friend everyone wish they had.

Overall its not good not bad an ok story that'll make u feel something was missing.

A sometimes painful, realistic-feeling contrast between personal victories and sacrifice

What is justice, and to what ends should we fight to preserve a legal system’s power in society versus fixing mistakes made by the people in positions of power within it?

Through the lens of “Team Zero,” a team of legal professionals seeking to overturn wrongful convictions in line with non-profit organizations like The Innocence Project, we are taken back in time to a case wherein a family’s home was broken into and stolen from with everyone but the very young daughter murdered in the process, the daughter traumatized having been awoken to the noise and hidden away in a closet by her mother just before hearing the sounds her mother cried out while being stabbed to death, the father already killed by that point.

The man arrested had a prior record of theft. Partial prints matched on the weapon. He’s nearing the point where he will be hanged, and the attention brought to the team has only made certain parties involved with the conviction wish to speed up his death. That is our starting point. Whether this team, led by an inspiring lawyer and lecturer who aspires to live in a nation with “zero wrongful convictions” (knowing that is not going to happen, of course, but aiming to never let innocent people suffer out a prison stay or even die because of someone else’s crimes), can succeed is less the point of this than questioning the system that puts the wrong people in prison far too often and makes it insanely hard to get a retrial request approved.

I thought this was really a rewarding watch. Tackling an old case as a retrial is a whole different story from what I see far more often, cold cases examined. Stats from international groups similar to Team Zero are in line with the figures mentioned at the end of the final episode. The pain showcased across this entire case and the beautiful return to the starting point (I’ll just leave it there to avoid spoilers) for so many who got involved in this one way or another was meaningful without feeling contrived at all. I hope everyone in the end had that moment to see their mothers again.

I recommend this to anyone who is interested in legal dramas or the legal process in general, this drama focused on a single case and shining light on just how many cogs there are in the machinery, how many people bring about convictions and carry out the punishments, be them rightful or wrongful arrests that land any given person in prison. I found the performances solid, many kinds of pain and distress on display from different people that can provoke empathy at times and anger at others. It is a short drama begging viewers to look more critically and keep their officials held accountable, to pause before placing blame and to consider the complexity of cases and need for the ability to have them retried more effectively with pride set aside and basic human dignity and moral rights of the one accused prioritized over the gains of people pressing the buttons and flipping the switches of the giant legal machine, many of its cogs aiming to grow in power/rank, plenty in politics likewise bowing to the interests of the wrong people. It shows what people with good and bad intentions are capable of doing and how that has a domino effect impacting so many.

Wasted potential

Things I liked

1 The premise. I thought it would be about a start up and the struggles to make it work. It was in theory, but the execution was so bad the premise lost its shine very soon.

Things I hated

1 I won't waste time to single every thing I hated. I will just say that there was no character development. No one to root for and there were some nonsensical behaviors I despised.

2 The script. Either they didn't know where they wanted to go and they messed things up or they knew and they are the worst writers ever. If you can't create compelling characters and intriguing plots don't call yourself a writer.

Can watch when you have no anything to watch.

An Old-fashioned story of FL was being cheated on by her ex-boyfriend and her best friend and then got one-night stand with ML, then quickly marrying the ML and getting revenge on the scumbag. The only highlight is that this time ML isn't the younger brother's father, but the SML's father. FL goes directly from girlfriend to stepmother, which is even more satisfying than being an aunt.

We need to agree Wang Yan Fei has more chemistry with Dai Rui more than with Yu Shang Xu. SML was quite delusional and fickle when he knows FL was ML's wife.

I quite annoyed by Wang Yan Fei styling and make up, did MUA and stylist had bad day or turned against her?
There's a bit of banter, which is acceptable, and it's watchable if you're bored and had no drama to watch.

Abrupt ending and lack of chemistry between Meng Lu and Chen Guan Yi destroy everything

I watched this drama yesterday and thought it just common transmigration story with ML can hear FL thought but it requires kiss to hear more information for FL mind. ML first thought to use FL to completely fall in love with FL was quite plausible.

I quite like Meng Lu acting but her chemistry with Chen Guan Yi are barely exist. Their kissing scene was quite empty to see. The villains are quite outmaneuver the drama.

Personally i think the ending was quite abrupt and destroy the drama. Only for hardcore fans.

A Boring Slog Carried by One Actor

While Pro Bono started as an easy watch, it quickly lost its spark. With each passing episode, the story became more boring, and I found myself losing interest entirely. By episode 6, I decided to drop it—I didn’t want to force myself to finish it just for the sake of completion.

The "Carry" Factor I really liked the lead, Kang, but unfortunately, that was the only positive. He was truly carrying the entire drama on his back. The rest of the team was terrible and lacked any chemistry or charm. While the individual legal cases were somewhat interesting, they weren't strong enough to save the show from its flat characters and slow pace.

Comparison to a Superior Drama If you are looking for a better version of this genre, I highly recommend "Oh My Ghost Client." That drama had everything this one lacked: it was fast-paced, funny, and featured great teamwork and compelling cases.

Final Verdict: Unless you are a massive fan of the lead actor, this one isn't worth the time. It lacks the "drive" and team chemistry that makes a legal drama successful.

Worst series ever and I've seen a lot.

Things I liked

1 Not a single one.

Things I hated

1 The FL. How on earth this untalented, ugly person gets roles? She couldn't act to save her life, unless you count as acting going around with a pout and looking miserable. What a poor excuse of an actress. I won't talk about anything else because even if there were some things that were decent she suck the joy out of everything. Not to mention she looks 50 and he looks 25 and that there was no chemistry. On the other hand how could it be chemistry with such a wooden actress? What a waste of my time. I won't waste a second more to talk about a series she destroyed with her poor acting.

I Picked up a Handsome and Wealthy Husband (2025) is a very good fantasy romantic comedy miniseries of transmigration into a novel with Wang Chaoyang (as Huo Ling Chuan) and Sun Qianxun (as Jiang Ning) in the leading’s couple role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the leading actors have a delightful chemistry that made their romantic scenes sensual and tantalizing.
In the meantime, this drama can be found in YouTube under the caption: “

But why?…

Wish I wouldn’t have watched. I didn’t want another “20th Century Girl” but with a “50 First Dates” hot take. The girl who has progressive memory loss is left to remember her first love? Stfu with all that noise. This is sensationalism for nothing more than the sake of tears. Build em up, break em down, and leave only ruins behind.
Why make a story, and try to make it matter, but leave no meaning behind in it at all?
I should have read the comments first. Lesson learned (again).

Wang Xuan best drama.

I watched Wang Xuan works and this one is considered his best drama in term of everything. The plot, chemistry and character was so decent. There is no place for me to complain except over white make up from leads and how FL search the evidence was missing in this drama. Sun Lu Lu and Wang Xuan chemistry was overflowing and their kissing scene was quite daring.

This drama address social issue, Even though ML has fallen for her, initially he still has the mindset of "I'd give her anything except marriage." ugh classic generic formula. ML maintains a superior mindset, his attraction to the FL purely physical. He's all talk and no action, claiming it's just a fling, but he gets angry whenever the FL expresses any dissent. He tries to persuade her to give up on opposing the SFL.

FL don't want to be a third party, decides to completely break off her relationship with the ML and it was ML awakening.

The most touching turning point is when ML finally understands her choice. When he puts aside his pride and begs desperately, when he cancels the arranged marriage and frantically pursues FL what we see is not the fall of a domineering CEO, but the awakening of a soul.

Recommended to watch.
