What many missed.... spoiler heavy post series review

Where to begin... this series had flaws, sometimes big ones, but what won me over was it's heart. Most fixate on the NC, and yes, there was plenty of it, much of it very well done between Sorn and Jun, but the story underneath is worth paying attention to. I almost wrote it off after the opening scene. Even though Jun consented to a shared viewing, Sorn "helping" him wasn’t consented to at first, and that put me in a real dilemma. I kept going, mostly because I saw something deeper in how the two interacted in the stairway scene where Jun meets Sorn again after a few years, and I’m glad I did.

Both Jun and Sorn are carrying a lot of pain, and they projected it onto each other. Their insecurities made their actions feel real. You could see them growing because of what they’ve been through. Their choices mattered because the show let consequences play out instead of sweeping everything under the rug. Their relationship wasn't instant love. It was earned through mistakes, awkward moments, and slowly learning to hear each other.

Family and friend pressure/expectations gave everything more weight. Even the power imbalance between them was addressed head-on. Jun blaming Sorn for his own desires and saying horrible things came from a place that felt very real. Even the NC moments usually showed a range of emotional, like exploring their sexuality and desires, letting their guard down, or confronting new feelings.

The second and third couples also had 'some' development. The show attempted to explore their feelings and connections, even if it was mostly uneven or superficial. The supporting characters were surprisingly not as annoying as they tend to be, and even the comic relief worked. BUT-...the little kids, though, were everywhere, almost like they were the producers’ kids. Super annoying.

End of the day, this series was about the messy, real process of growing up, facing yourself, and finding/being worthy of trust. It built to something substantial, and it’s short-sighted and a bit hypocritical to dismiss all that it just because of the sexual content.

Was it Shakespeare? No. But it was better than average, and resonated with me more than I expected.

Entertaining I guess

Don't go into this expecting a masterpiece. But still got some entertainments and we got some funny moments. And some unhinge dialogues. I will only say recent examples since they are fresh in mind. But like I chuckled with Jun at the end when the brother was like ''I heard Sorn is good in bed, is it true'' Or sorn telling them how he help Jun pleasuring himself when he was younger. Like bro

Main couple : They had chemistry. If you are into this (not gonna lie, just like me ahaha), they gave really good and hot NC scenes. Mostly good (and often very aggressive btw ahah) kissing scenes. We got the spice almost every eps. I think they did pretty good in term of acting in the sad scenes. Sorn looked the best with his hair down. The NC in the bathroom, when Jun tied up his hair mid make out session, that was hot.
I would have like to see more of a mature, long term relationship moments or something. More of them building a real relationship in the last episode.

If they do another BL together, I would watch it, they are a decent pairing

Second couple : Had absolutely no chemistry. They were very awkward to watch, especially the NC scenes and kissing scenes in general. The NC scene in the last ep was unhinge and almost funny. When I saw the tongue and the finger in the mouth, I was like omg👀😅
had no interest in them. So they get engaged in the last ep ? oh it was grandma's ring, I am sorry, that ring is ugly.

Third couple : They were not interesting and we got almost nothing. They were never seen again, not much to say. I think the NC scenes were just okay.

Everyone doing it in the office and even the HR gal, was pretty insane ahah Work plot line was just there. more making out than office work.

What is the use of the emergency star cases you guess ? it's the make out place

Liked the friendship

Should you watch ? why not

the best part for me was the comment section here on kisskh every week, I've got some good laugs

Boat and Oat have a great chemistry but the acting is uneven; one moment they shine and the next it’s like they’re just reading from a script. I really like the main story and it's the reason why I have seen it four times so far (the other couples' stories are just uninteresting). It’s definitely a bit messy at times with an amateur feel and choppy pacing, but the heart of the show is there. It’s just so incredibly sweet and fun to watch AND Boat...

The main couple had so much chemistry

I really enjoyed watching the main couple. They truly had such good chemistry with each other and I actually can’t wait to see more of them together.

I didn’t have a strong impression of the other characters, but the reason why I’m writing this so highly is because of the two main characters.

You can tell that they do care for each other quite a lot, despite what they try to say to themselves and to each other.

Spiciest BL ive seen

If you want to watch sonething for the spice sake then this is for you. They show almost everything and NC scenes are long and steamy. I like the main couple, but the other 2 couples are completely unnecessary and boring, they dont have much screen time anyway so not sure why they even included them (especially 3rd couple, so boring and brings nothing to the story). I skipped every scene with other couples.
Other than that, theres no real plot, plot are the characters themselves but its not that interesting. Honestly it was an alright watch because ive never seen a BL so explicit and actors did insane job in those scenes, they had a good couch.
Would i rewatch it? Not really. (Only spicy scenes on repeat 🤣)

Best mature BL ML on-screen chemistry

It is not often we get to see this kind of natural on-screen chemistry of two male leads in a show, but My Stubborn delivered. This an adult drama that may be to risqué for some viewers; the story itself was not the most creative, the SL acting was mediocre, but Boat and Oat delivered a performance that was so believable and natural it felt voyeuristic to watch. I hope we get to see more of this pairing in future shows, with better stories. They managed to make the weak script shine.

typical trash tv

Entertaining but that’s about it imo… also I know it’s a bl but the fact they included lesbians but hardly ever showed them pissed me off. I was hoping by the end the NC scenes as well as their relationship in general would be better regarding toxicity, but to my disappointment it wasn't so I was just uncomfortable for most of the show for no reason.

“Over-the-top but true to life—My Stubborn is a wild ride worth watching.”

Where are my Boat and Oat fans at? Because My Stubborn was a wild ride—and I loved every minute of it. Sure, some folks said it was too much to believe, and yes, a few scenes had me wondering if they hired adult film directors on the side. But underneath all the chaos, there was something hilariously real about it.

This BL didn’t shy away from exaggeration, but it also nailed the truth about relationships. There’s always that one innocent guy who falls for everything, the oversexed character who’s always stirring the pot, the couple hiding their feelings like it’s a national secret, and the pair who just can’t say “I love you” without choking on it. We’ve seen these people in real life—and maybe even been them.

Despite the drama, the misunderstandings, and the occasional eyebrow-raising moment, the show wraps up with everyone finding their version of happiness. And that’s what makes it work. It’s messy, it’s loud, it’s borderline ridiculous—but it’s also heartfelt.

Boat and Oat carried the show with their chemistry and comedic timing. I’d love to see them in more offbeat rom-coms, but I wouldn’t mind a serious drama or two to show off their range. They’ve got the chops, and My Stubborn proved they’re not afraid to take risks.

Famous for the explicit sex scenes - but so much more: perfect casting and outstanding chemistry

My Stubborn has gained attention for its many explicit adult scenes, but it’s much more than just steamy moments. It’s a modern romantic drama set in an office environment that blends humor, heartbreak, and authentic emotional depth.

The series follows two young men as they navigate their relationship, exploring their sexualities and feelings while dealing with personal and professional challenges. Their journey from sexual curiosity and exploration to genuine love is portrayed with sincerity and realism, capturing the complexities of emotions.

This BL stands out from the many others that awkwardly force NC (sex scenes) where it doesn’t belong. In My Stubborn, the explicit scenes feel natural and essential to the story. Unlike many series where actors seem uncomfortable, here the cast handles these moments with confidence, making them feel genuine rather than cringe-worthy.

The modern office setting adds a relatable backdrop for the romance and drama, grounding the story in a familiar world. The series is often funny but can also be heartbreakingly emotional, allowing viewers to truly feel the characters’ pain and growth during tough times.

The only criticism I have is about the side couple. Their story felt completely unnecessary in this series, and their chemistry wasn’t very convincing either. Honestly, the show would have been even better if this part of the story had been left out entirely, as it never felt believable or interesting.

Casting is superb — the leads fit their roles perfectly, and their chemistry is undeniable. Watching their connection evolve is one of the show’s biggest strengths. The performances bring warmth and authenticity, making the characters’ journey believable and engaging. Overall, it’s a well-acted, emotionally rich series that balances steamy moments with genuine storytelling.

A friendly tip: if you don’t want people around you to think you’re watching adult content, it’s best to use headphones. And if you’re uncomfortable with explicit sex scenes, this series might not be for you.

That’s… that’s a lot of sex

The setting: a corporate office where they are waaaaay too careful not to talk about what the company actually does or makes, but apparently it does make some kind of physical product. Who knows. They talk about reports a lot IDK.

The first main character guy is the Puppy. I have named him as such because he is either an excitable puppy or a puppy that has just been kicked. He is maaaaaybe in two minds about the whole gay thing still kinda figuring himself out. He is also the new intern at said nameless company.

The second main character is the cliche tall-dark-handsome with a side order of communicating almost entirely in nods and grunts. HUGE bisexual energy. Gives the constant impression that he is all done with this bullshit, get off his lawn before he gets the rake.

Now, what this series has going for it is the side characters, which are numerous.

We have:

-the boss’s son, who is the Puppy’s bestie and treats him like a little brother.

-Grunty’s colleague, a guy with an uncanny resemblance to Link from Legend of Zelda, who has a weird situationship with the boss’s son where they flirt a lot and have sex and generally be uncommunicative idiots.

-the office gossips, consisting of a flaming gay stereotype and his female enabler.

-a pair of high powered executive lesbians.

Our story unfolds when the Puppy gets started at the company and he immediately gets aggro with Grunty, because Grunty dislikes younger guys and picks on them as a form of social interaction instead of, y’know, conversation.

But, see, the Puppy and Grunty have a history, okay, and that history consists of one mutual jerk off session and a blow job in the back of Grunty’s giant SUV.

Why did they do this? Who thought this was a good idea? Are either of them actually gay? Don’t ask those questions, the answers are very dumb.

Basically what gets this train wreck moving is Grunty offering to become the Puppy’s friend-with-benefits in order for the Puppy to, and I quote, “get better at doing sex”.

We shall not comment on Grunty’s enthusiasm on having sex with a guy who is supposedly bad at it. Again, don’t ask those questions, the answers and everyone involved is an idiot.

This series is a bunch of insane office nonsense broken up by limited amounts of drama and an excessive amount of sex scenes, and much as I appreciate their commitment to the whole thing, holy goddamn that is a lot of sex.

Anyhoo: highlights include the high powered corporate lesbians going from propositioning to full on screwing on top of the nearest desk within 30 seconds, so at least you can’t fault their efficiency. It is, however, ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS because it’s clear the poor film crew have no idea how lesbians have sex and they are just trying their best without showing any boobs or butts.

Other highlights include Grunty getting a full on “You Suck” speech from the Puppy at one point, which completely breaks him and it’s just a very satisfying moment because he’s been an asshole up to this point.

As always, the drama is pretty good, the acting is better than it has any right to be, there are some funny moments that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I can confirm the sex scenes are indeed hawt. Yes it’s called “My Stubborn”, but who or what is being stubborn is left as an exercise for the viewer. If it’s on your rewatch list and you’re not lying to yourself, it’s entirely because of the very sexy people kissing each other enthusiastically - and that’s okay.

A series where the actors took ALL the risks!

WARNING: This series is not for all viewers due to its very explicit sex scenes. [It's not porn, no sex is seen in this drama, but the sex scenes seem real]. It is intended for a mature audience, capable of understanding the raw sexual content and recognizing that the central theme is the evolution of the relationship between our two protagonists, from fleeting attraction to a solid, stable, and trusting relationship.

PLOT: In a group of childhood friends, there are the "older" ones (Sorn, Thai, and Champ) who eventually form a company, and the younger ones, including Jun, a rebellious and stubborn youngster. At 18, Jun stumbled upon Sorn masturbating and ended up sharing the moment. Years later, Jun becomes an intern at the company, with Sorn as his mentor (brusque and annoyed by the "kids"). But Jun, in a rather toxic relationship, is repeatedly rescued from trouble by Sorn, who becomes his "sex mentor."

+++ There are sex scenes in each episode, which fuels the hateful comments. For me, these scenes are necessary in the narrative, because sex is the expression of the bond between the two protagonists, their way of communicating, seducing each other, and measuring their power over the other one. Some commenters call Sorn a pervert. I completely disagree. Jun is an adult and consenting, even initiating. For me, Jun's feigned innocence, which plays on his power over Sorn, is morally more perverse than Sorn's raw, expressed, direct desire. Jun is never fooled by the "sex mentor" excuse. He's the one in control (by deliberately putting himself in danger, stirring up Sorn's jealousy, etc.).
+++ Boat is so hot. This actor exudes charisma, tension, and energy that leaps off the screen. I hope to see him again soon in longer (and more comfortable :) series.
+++ Oat is Jun, mischievous, carefree, self-assured (on the surface), and nonchalant like a young adult in the throes of discovery. However, both at work and in his personal life, he tends to behave like a spoiled and capricious schoolboy, bolstered by the support of his "older brothers." This isn't believable for someone who's 22 or 23...
+++ Fast-paced direction, with no dull moments.
+++ Good OSTs that complement the atmosphere of the scenes.

### The series relies solely on the Boat/Oat interactions; everything else (or almost everything) is just filler (work/supporting actors/other characters): the employees who eat, gossip, flirt, ... but don't work / the Thai-Champ relationship and the sismance are bland, tasteless, flavorless, and uninteresting / Phiangrak, who isn't even a shadow of a love rival / the families / ...
Only two secondary characters manage to exist on screen: Korn and Thanu.

### The repetition of sex scenes, unnecessary once the relationship has become stable, ultimately ruins the effect. One wonders if the producers didn't demand a quota (one scene per episode) to satisfy the fans?

=> An unusual, disturbing, unsettling series, difficult to rate because the very mediocre rubs shoulders with the exceptional. For mature audiences only!

*******************************************************
