MDL Watch Challenge 2025



Keeping with MDL tradition, we present to you the 2025 MDL Watch Challenge! Whether you want to challenge yourself, find new things in the titles you watch, or just join the fun, this challenge is open for all. 

To join in the fun, you must READ and FOLLOW these STEPS and instructions. They may sound tricky at first, but we are sure you will get the hang of it, and we are HERE to guide you!

This Challenge starts on January 1, 2025 and ends December 31, 2025*! 


You may join the challenge any time during the year 2025—be it January, February, May or December. 


The last day for submissions is January 3, 2026, but no matter when you join the challenge, all titles must have been watched between January 1 and December 31, 2025*.

The most important rule is that all titles must be watched, from beginning to end, between January 1st and December 31st, 2025, unless specifically stated otherwise. These titles must fit the description of the prompt you are using them for.

Beware: Theme specific words used in the application are just for fun. 


You edit as you go along. One post per person (unless you run out of space, then you may create another one, just make sure to link the two posts). 

For your convenience, save the link to your sheet so you can go back and edit it whenever you want - we can’t find it any easier than you can!

TIP: If your post link suddenly doesn't work, go back one page and check there - someone may have deleted their post and bumped yours up!

Note:  questions posted in the FAQ forum will be answered by us and other experienced users. Questions posted or sent to our account will be answered by us but may take more time.  Please check the FAQ before sending us a question, as it may already have been answered there.

If your worksheet is completed successfully and your turn-in form is submitted by January 3, 2026, you will be included in the Hall of Fame. 

If you submit your form on January 4, 2026 or later, you will have had the joy of completing the challenge, but your entry will not be added to the Hall of Fame.



Sign up 

1. Go to the application form/sign up sheet.

2. Copy the application / Sign up sheet (this is also your worksheet) Note: It can be hard to get the formatting to follow, so for that we have developed this hack.

3. Answer in this thread by pressing Quick Reply.

4. Paste the application and Save application by pressing Reply.

5. Click on the arrow at the bottom of your application.

6. Choose Share to be able to save the link to your application or choose Edit to edit as you go along.


Watch Titles (dramas, movies, specials, tv shows) that match the prompt of your choice from any of the blocks within the challenge. 


A Title is anything you can watch that is in the MDL database.

Each Title must be watched from start to finish between January 1 and December 31, 2025 unless specifically stated otherwise. 

Each Title can only be used ONCE and only for one prompt in the challenge (tip: use a custom list to keep track).

It is okay to re-watch Titles you saw in previous years as long as you watch the whole Title during 2025. If you started a show in 2024, you can ONLY use that Title if you RE-WATCH those episodes you watched in 2024.

Scenario:  
By December 31, 2025, you may have seen Imawa no Kuni no Alice in its entirety 10 times: 5 times in 2024 and 5 times in 2025. You may only use it once for any given year’s challenge (so if you used it in 2024, you can still use it in 2025, but only for one prompt).

There are 132 prompts in this challenge divided into 26  blocks - each containing 5 prompts/ titles  (with the exception of the International Airport block, which contains 7 prompts/titles ) + Districts - OPTIONAL -25 bonus prompts and bonus challenges  that can be used as a bonus or in exchange for prompts you wish to avoid. 

You can either watch something first and then find a prompt, or you can find a prompt and then watch a title that specifically completes it. Just make sure you watch the whole title between January 1st, 2025 and December 31st, 2025*.

 Fill in Application/Itinerary: Complete Blocks/Visit stops 

Blocks (Stops)   are groups of FIVE prompts (directions).

There is ONE exception to the groups of FIVE prompts   and that is stop #26, International Airport . To complete this stop, you still only need to complete 5 titles  (visit 5 addresses) . However, if you complete 7 you get a stamp in your passport.** 

Watch MDL titles that answer each of the 5 prompts in each block. You may only use 1 MDL title per prompt. Repeat this process for each block.

You may choose to complete any number of blocks  (stops). And  may finish titles  (may visit the addresses) in any order you would like.

Once you complete your second block (stop), if you don’t want to add any more titles or reach a higher level/larger destination, you can turn in your challenge form HERE. Congratulations!

You can move titles around as much as you want on the worksheet while you are working on it.

The names of the blocks are just for fun.

Here is a block, the notes are optional unless stated otherwise,  but you must fill in titles in the space labelled Address for them to count.

Once you are COMPLETELY DONE and do not want to add anything more to your sign up sheet, you may turn in your application here between January 1, 2025 and January 3, 2026.

Bonuses!

These are optional, and earn you a stamp in your passport. 

Globetrotter: Watch titles from all 7 countries of MDL in block 26., 1 stamp per completed round of 7. 


Airport District: Count the amount of titles you have watched from each country to earn a stamp in your passport. One stamp for every 20 titles from the same country. 


 


Runway district - Ways to get further faster, and earn an extra stamp in your passport. 


Blockbuster - Watch one title that fits all the prompts in the same block, may only be used once in the whole challenge!

Call a Substitute driver - ask a friend to follow directions to an address you wish to avoid. (watch a title instead of you), the substitute driver earns a stamp in their passport. 

That friend must be actively doing the challenge and may not use the title in their own form. This may be used multiple times with multiple participants. There is no limit.
