Exactly! We know (if there is no unreliability narrator) that the ML is not the culprit, so we are fine with whatever happens, but she doesn't. All she knows is that he has been convicted of killing two girls and she chooses to trust him, take him where the bodies could be and that in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere, while NO ONE knows where she is.
Oh, I get it now. True, it's more of a psychological need I suppose.
I will.leave a comment under this one, in case u haven't watched ep. 4
That aside, I disagree with everything else. Even though there are definitely unnecessary scenes, I don't think the series is wasting time on secondary characters. It feels like a drama where the culprit is not just one and we have many people involved.
That is confirmed by that painting in ep. 4. It seems that many people are involved in the crimes that happened back then and it not a simple "one killer murder case".
What personally bothers me is that one the director is focusing way too much on people that look suspicious and second that many things could be predicted.
This definitely shouldn't be this long cause like you said the book is also a relatively short novel.
Even though the cop disliked ML (and also kind of hates him cause he remembers what happened to his wife) he doesn't seem to be a bad cop in terms of investigating skills. He is violent and problematic but he has a good hunch and he didn't even let the overpass case cause he knew something was wrong with it.
I don't really find the rest that illogical. I mean the girl told him where the bone was found and he went searching. It doesn't really matter if he is admitting his guilt or not for two reasons. One, everyone is thinking he is a murderer anyway and they all threat him like one. Secondly, he has already been convicted of the murder so he can't go to jail for the same crime.
I am not sure what u mean by the forensic thing.
That girl is definitely annoying and she feels more like a plot tool than an actual character. That was a very stupid thing to do, but honestly for me it wasn't so much that she led him to the body, but the fact that she trusted a convicted murderer and accompanied him all alone in the middle of nowhere where he could have easily harmed her...
And let's not forget about the stupid cellphone product placement. Like ML was screaming, crying and saying Bo Yeong's name and she apparently couldn't hear it so she decided to take a picture with her phone π
It seems that truly the friends went to the warehouse without the ML and it wasn't just them but two more people.
I agree about that woman being obsessed with the ML. It doesn't even look like they were close, just that she really liked him and he never paid any attention to her. The fact that she doesn't care about him being a potential murderer and the fact she has basically created her entire life around him is definitely not healthy.
In that gathering where BY said her father beat her there were four men including the main lead and all of them are suspicious. The cop, the nurse and Su O. The painting if I am not mistaken showed 4 people, but one of them was alone and the rest were together. That could be Su Oh being an observer.
In this episode they seemed to imply that the two friends (the cop and the nurse) have something to do with what happened and it is possible they assaulted her.
That cop friend not only stopped ML when he was talking about the bracelet, but he also seemed uncomfortable when they mentioned that BY's panties were not found.
That doctor could be having an affair with Da Eun, even though I initially suspected he raped her, cause of that center for assaulted women that was mentioned in the first episode.
I think he has a hunch and that is why he kept investigating the overpass case.
I feel and I hope that they will start cooperating from today's episode π
There are way too many suspicious people.
About NG, she could be a distraction, but she is definitely way too good to be true. There are two reasons she would be so faithful to the ML. She truly loves him way too much or she knows he didn't do it, because she knows who did it or she was the one involved somehow. I honestly would be a bit disappointed if she is in the series just like an unrequited love interest.
Plus, Bo Yeong's dad...
I kind of can't stand it when he acts like he is the greatest dad. Like, dude was an alcoholic and who knows what else before the murder. He was not a good father, he literally said he made his kids bring him alcohol and he took pride in it. I don't think he had anything to do with his daughter's death, but him acting like he was a good dad irritates me.
I agree they have different vibes, but I also see similarities at least in a more general aspect.
I don't get the same vibe from them, SFH had a darker color pallette and felt more claustrophobic because of where it was taking place, plus main character is completely different, but I get why they would recommend it. There are similarities.
That aside though, he was portrayed from the get go as problematic and violent and he has already done many questionable things. At least he tried to solve the overpass case and didn't give up.
The other police men (the ones that handled the case back then) are much worse.
What's with the cellphones though? I am not even sure if they are advertising them (cause I didn't notice a brand) but it sure does feel like they do. There are so many random phone close ups. It took me so out of it during the last part of the episode.
Like the girl apparently can't listen to him screaming and crying and she is like "let me use my great phone to take a photo with flash and then I will use the amazing zoom my camera has to find out that Bo Yeong was found (like ML's screams were not loud enough)" π
Anyways. Excited for the next episode. I hope ML and police officer start working together to find the real culprit. That aside, I liked how the whole overpass thing unraveled. I honestly expected something more complicated, but it was a nice change that it wasn't that complex in the end.
