I haven't seen another K drama like this one before... However, there is a C drama from this year that explored personal growth through the different stages of your life. "Tale of Rose" with Liu Yifei. Really recommend it. But it doesn't have the one true love theme like this one. It follows Meigui through four major relationships, her first love, her husband, her soulmate and self-love.
Liu Yifei also did "Meet Yourself" the year before which is all about healing and finding purpose. It's about a woman whose best friend dies suddenly. In her grief, she realises she has forgotten how to live and lacks purpose, so she takes a sabbatical to a small village in Yunnan where she meets friends who are also on their own personal quest and a local love interest. Recommended.
For me personally, this drama gives me the heart flutters. Their chemistry, the anticipation. I think this is…
Heh?! 😲 I am so taken aback by this response since I just asked you to give me an example of a drama that you found more enlightening and why...
Discussions involve sharing different POV. You seem to be unable to do so without becoming confrontational and rude, which is totally uncalled for... Goodbye.
Very slow!! But well acted. My thoughts, I doubt whether ML could change his entire personality, although he understands…
Imo I don't think it's his personality that was the issue, it was his misplaced priorities, lack of work life balance and ability to relate to the FL across the cultural divide.
For me personally, this drama gives me the heart flutters. Their chemistry, the anticipation. I think this is…
OK. I don't find this drama typical for K dramas at all, which is why personally I find it so refreshing! What is one of your favourite K dramas that you think imparts more inspiring lessons and what are they?
The acting is good, the chemistry is nice but the writing is meh, I see no beauty in term of an artistic point…
For me personally, this drama gives me the heart flutters. Their chemistry, the anticipation. I think this is the best writing I've seen all year.
There are so many lessons in this drama. Firstly you have the two different periods of your life. The inexperience of youth, the light heart, the passion and excitement of being a young adult, the pain of first heart break versus the more realistic, measured temperament of being a bit older and wiser.
There is the theme about love vs marriage. The FLs mother and father are in a loveless marriage. The mother advises the FL against marrying for love when she comes back broken hearted.
You have the intercultural issues both the good and the bad. Learning about each other's cultures can be really enriching, but it can also come with misunderstandings and differences. It highlights the differences between Korean and Japanese culture that lead to communication breakdown (especially from language barriers) and differences in perspective between the leads due to their cultural upbringing.
You have the issue of relationship dynamics. How communication breakdown, not maintaining commitments and a lack of quality time together can cause loneliness within a relationship even if you're sleeping next to each other.
Sometimes, you can breakup with someone even if you love them. And after that breakup, even though you move on with your life, the love doesn't necessarily diminish.
There is the question of work life balance, something that is a big topic in some parts of the world where the birth rate has declined so much because of a poor work life balance.
Of course, there is also commentary about the impact of family on our psychology. Trauma and behavioural patterns can influence us in ways we don't fully understand.
I feel really inspired by this drama, but if it's not your cup of tea, never mind!
The logic of the bf thinking that moving to a foreign country where she DOESN'T speak the language while he does…
I don't really think that factored into her decision, it was the proposal, not the going to America. I think she would have broken up with him regardless of what he said though because she finally came to terms with her feelings and knew that she didn't want to marry him.
Let's be honest, she knew that from the moment she wasn't happy trying on wedding dresses, and could only think about when she tried on a wedding dress with Jungo... Min Jun also knew from that moment, which is why he was also anxious and insecure.
No, not everyone. She wanted her boyfriend to care about her. He left her alone way too much and always prioritised…
Oh you mean Min Jun. She broke up with him because she wasn't in love with him and didn't want to marry him. Very reasonable reason to break up.
Selfish? Nah. It's her life, her future, her choice. Marriage isn't an act of charity. So, you think she should just marry a guy she doesn't love just because he loves her? That would be so unfair to Min Jun.
First love hits differently. It's been 15 years since my first love ended, but if he turned up tomorrow in front…
She did nothing wrong. Breaking up is not a crime. The entire time she was with Min Jun, she had no contact with Jungo until he turned up out of the blue years later. Blaming her is totally illogical.
There are so many dramas where the ML has more than one woman trying to win his love. Off the top of my head... Yumi's Cells, Fight For My Way, My Demon, Destined with You, Love Next Door... Your comment sounds very bitter and prejudiced I'm sorry to say...
Unhealthy lessons learned from trauma leading to a breakdown in communication. Classic really.
And what's the problem with that? If the first two were no good, try again. That's life. 🤷♀️ Once you get into your 30s it would be more unusual to have only dated 2 people.
But I think Jungo is her true love, so I hope they will get back together. 🙏

She hasn't cheated, in fact she's turned Jungo dowm several times when he tried to speak to her and intentionally kept her distance. She has done nothing wrong here. Breaking up isn't a crime. Only once she ended her relationship did she decide to go see Jungo.

It was the best choice for all parties.
