Sure! So, C dramas are divided into 5 main categories. Xianxia (gods and immortals), Wuxia (about martial arts heroes), Xuanhuan (fantasy that is neither xianxia or wuxia.) Historical and Modern.
My recommendations:
Xianxia: Love & Destiny Ancient Love Poetry Lost You Forever The Starry Love Eternal Love Eternal Love of Dream Ever Night Ashes of Love
Wuxia My Journey to You Sword Snow Stride Side Story of Fox Volant
Xuanhuan: Joy of Life
Historical The Rebel Princess Rise of the Phoenixes The Story of Minglan Love like the Galaxy Nirvana in Fire Story of Yanxi Palace The Long Ballad The Longest Day in Chang'an
Modern: The Forbidden Flower Meet Yourself Will Love in Spring Tale of Rose You are My Glory
These are imo the best ones ever made. If you tell me what kind of drama you are in the mood for, I can be more specific. Or you can look them up here and see which catches your eye! Welcome to C dramaland!

Happy to help! I think a big problem I see in Asian drama fan culture is how black and white people's views are. Love or hate, but there's so many shades of grey...
In the larger scale of things, this drama while watchable and sufficiently entertaining is pretty forgettable with no rewatch value. I had a peek at your watchlist, and you haven't watched that many C dramas. If so, I wouldn't waste my time on this one because there are far far better ones in every genre. I can recommend some real gems if you're interested? What kind of drama are you in the mood for?
does anyone know which time period this drama might be set in? i know its fiction but there must be similiar time…
It's not historically accurate except for the names of the dynasties and place names: Liang Kingdom and Wei Kingdom, which is a period referred to as the Southern and Northern dynasties around 500 AD. The costumes are not accurate, it's just generic, modern-style Hanfu (with a lot of fantasy elements) like most mid budget C dramas. The Yueluo tribe may be loosely inspired by the Yue people but different time period (they were around 500 years earlier). They were known for their tattoos, short hair and sea faring culture. The practice of taking slaves from enemies or getting slaves in tribute is a long standing practice.
Parts of this drama were really well done and other parts were a bit mediocre. The battle of wits between the MLs was excellent in the first arc. Very clever writing. Somehow that cleverness seemed to become more and more diluted towards the end. The relationship between the leads started violent and intense, but it became so tame, even boring later on. I really wasn't into this romance. Jeremy Tsui did a fabulous job. Well acted. Considering his upcoming retirement, I think he should be proud of his performance in this drama. As for Ren Jialun... it was a bit hit and miss, as was Li Landi. The ending was really underwhelming and despite the sad events, it just didn't emote an emotional reaction in me.
Usually this happens when there is something about the drama that some people have an (unreasonable) issue with…
I agree. I think the criticisms of this drama are unreasonable. By the way, I don't mean my personal rating, I mean comparing it to other MDL drama ratings, I would say it's of a similar quality to dramas rated 8.3-8.5.
You dont like reba, no problem. You are not going to watch the show, still no problem. Now I don't understand why…
There is a difference. The OP is expressing their views on the drama. You're saying you don't allow them to express their opinion because they don't agree with you.
When someone has an opinion that you disagree with, telling them their opinion is trash and they should keep it to themselves is bullying, not "sharing thoughts". Do better.
It's crystal clear here who was being immature. Own it. Someone having a difference of opinion or disliking something that you like is not immature or abnormal, and is certainly not a call to arms for all loyal fans to bully that person into submission.
That was brave of you to criticise Dilraba. She has very loyal fans. I am also a big fan, but I strongly dislike…
Don't worry, I know. The Asian fanculture is toxic. Even if you make the mildest of comments, these types of fans will pounce on you like a pack of rabid dogs to "protect" their beloved idol (who is definitely not reading these comments and don't know these keyboard warriors even exist.)
Ridiculous isn't it! I was raised to debate and consider different POV respectfully. Criticism isn't negative, it's productive feedback. Very different from hate or bullying.
I found this drama such a snoozefest, no chemistry between the leads and uninteresting/annoying support characters. I liked the theme of fostering, that was interesting but unfortuntely not enough to make up for the tedious, predictable plot.
I'll never understand the ratings of MDL. Why is a drama that's this good having only 7.9 here? Honestly, it deserves…
Usually this happens when there is something about the drama that some people have an (unreasonable) issue with so they downrate it. Hankiz Omar has been criticised a lot, amd honestly I don't get it, either its her makeup or her acting. Next, I saw some criticism that it was sexier than other dramas (I suppose this rubbed conservative viewers tbe wrong way). From what I've seen of this drama so far, I would put it in the 8.3-8.5 rating bracket.
