The point is the parents never trying to understand wei Zhi or her choices
I just finished Ep 18 and caught that entertainment reference in the conversation between her and Chong. Although she might still be an "accountant". I have met a few who can see beyond numbers. 😇

You would think they would realize that at least a little bit. I mean their daughter lives in the same city as…
As the proverb says "there are none so blind as those who will not see".

To me, the interactions of the two families are exactly the same as those seen in Fireworks of My Heart. In both progammes, the ML's family is warm, open, and welcoming, with lots of lots of laughter and happiness. The FL's family is rigid, formal, and cold, with no laughter and happiness.

And, now for something completely different.

Early on, several people questioned why the headrests for the front seats in some vehicles were missing. I was just chatting with a colleague from China and he confirmed that headrests are required by law. I can only assume that they were taken out for this show to make it easier to see the back seats during certain scenes.

The phrasing of your post is provocative, and received the response it seems you were looking for. I will re-phrase…
If you check out my past comments, you will see that I have not been only positive towards this show. Personally, I do not post without the expectation and hope that there will be a reply or response.

I have not seen enough of Yu Shu Xin's shows to be able to comment on her acting skills. However, you probably would not have got the responses you did if you had written something along the lines of:
"I do not think that Yu Shu Xin's acting has improved. In fact, I think it has gotten worse."

There have been a few comments criticising Chong for his reaction to his treatment by Wei Zhi's parents and her non-defence of him. The general theme is that he should not be "ghosting" her.

Nan Feng correctly pointed out that he is a proud person. We should remember how Wei Zhi was treated when she visited his parents and was introduced as his girlfriend. Polar opposites.

The parents weren’t even THAT bad (at least, compared to many other drama parents). But the way ML reacted and…
I am not certain that Chong reacted and handled things weirdly. Nan Feng's comment about him being proud is probably the best reason for his reaction.

Another unnecessary breakup in a CDRAMA?? LOUD SIGH*It infuriated me when Wen Zhi's parents spoke to Shan Chong…
I commented on an earlier post that I will not excuse or justify how Wen Zhi reacted. However, I would say that a possible explanation is that she knows her parents and realised that pushing things too hard, too quickly would make things even worse, especially with Shan Shan present.

is this bad ? or just stressful ?
Are you asking about the show or reading the comments? 😂

I am not going excuse or justify how Wei Zhi responded. The only explanation I can imagine is that she wanted to prevent things getting out of hand, especially with Shan present.

They should’ve cut out ep 17. Their break up is so unnecessary and it’s unfortunate they used this trope in…
It was not unnecessary pressure. It was blatant and unabashed "You are not good enough to be in the same time zone as our daughter".

WZ’s parents think they’re protecting her, but they’re actually hurting her instead. I get that they want…

I will have to disagree with your assessment of Wei Zhi's father and his discussion with Chong. To me, it was…
Like you, I have experienced both cultures. I was lucky that my future mother-in-law welcomed me into the family with open arms. And she doted on her bi-racial grandchildren.

Again. like you, I understand that Wei Zhi's father has concerns. I know I did when my daughter was getting married (and my son-in-law has a Masters in Engineering!). However, the way it was done appeared to be deliberately intended to humiliate Chong. A private meal meeting at a clearly high-end restaurant screams we are better than you; forget about our daughter and go back to your place.

The one thing we have not been told is what type of business are Wei Zhi's parents involved in. Does the novel say? We know that Yi Ming's parents own a private hospital (the one where Yi Ming works?). If the business interests intersect, then we can safely assume that the marriage between Wei Zhi and Yi Ming would have been a business merger.

Finally caught up to episode 18. Who was cutting onions in episodes 16 and 17? I found myself in tears for both…
I will have to disagree with your assessment of Wei Zhi's father and his discussion with Chong. To me, it was nothing more than a longer version of her mother's dismissal of Chong's apology for not have a gift, which was to the effect "nothing you give us would be good enough". It wasn't just rude, it was insulting and patronising.

Her father utterly dismissed the work and commitment it takes to become a national level athlete or even a coach (I am certified squash coach in Canada and Hong Kong). He dismissed his daughter's chosen career; there are more than a few companies successfully producing children's products (Disney, Mattel). And, if their company is successful, then why not offer Chong an opportunity to join it when the snowboarding career is over?

A few comments/observations having watched Ep 17.
-- To respond "it is okay, we have everything" when someone apologises for bringing a gift when they visit your house for the first time says more about the host than the guest. Wei Zhi's mother is patronizing, classless, and lacking of manners.
-- It is hypocritical of the parents to want to Wei Zhi to be the quiet, subordinate (stay-at-home?) wife when they were both too busy with their business to look after her.
-- It is even more hypocritical of her father to tell Chong that his career is not good enough to give Wei Zhi a proper future when he is clearly the junior partner in the marriage.
-- If they want to "secure" Wei Zhi's future, why not offer Chong a position in their obviously successful business when he decides to stop competing and coaching?

I understand both comments, but there is an additional factor that I think needs to be considered.

Wei Zhi knows her parents (better than they know her, BTW) and knows that they will react badly to her introducing him as her boyfriend. First, she is introducing her boyfriend, not them. Second, he is not Yi MIng. Third, they are in the hospital for Shan to receive treatment.

Damn Esther Yus acting is getting worse?
The phrasing of your post is provocative, and received the response it seems you were looking for.

I will re-phrase my question post from just below:
-- If you do not like Yu Shu xin's acting, why watch one of her shows?
-- And, why post here to antagonise people?

I am confused as well. I cannot find any reason why there would be blank 3 days (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday),…
Ah, okay, logical. Sadly for them, I can wait.

Over the run of this show, there have been several times when people have asked about the negative commentators and the poor ratings that they seem to have given, even to episodes that have not yet been aired. For example, Ep 23 has a rating of 7.3 from 46 votes! This morning the following was posted in response to a question about the low rating:
"...because is boring, and repetitive, and FL act like an 12 yearls old kid, almost all her roles in all dramas she plays the same in all of them. its boring and childish..and cringe, yes!"

I could ask the person who wrote that why they are watching a show they apparently dislike so much, and then commenting on it. And why watch any show with Yu Shu Xin in it, given the clear dislike of the actor? But, I thought it might be better to open up the discussion to everyone to provide their thoughts and input.

For my part, I am enjoying the show, although I did have a big problem with the Yi Ming character. Personally, if I do not like a show, I drop it. There are many others out there. I certainly would not bother commenting about it or giving it a rating.

Thoughts? Comments?

Guys, is the drama ending on the 22 like it was supposed to and like it says on MDL, or will it follow that schedule…
I am confused as well. I cannot find any reason why there would be blank 3 days (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday), and the series ending during the week, not over the weekend.
