Episode 3 👏👏 that’s what you call a war/battle scene! Even the NPCs did a wonderful job!

Three episodes in and I love Si Mu’s chemistry more with little Chen Ying than Duan Xu. Chen Ying brings out the human in her.

Fu Bo Han is one talented kid actor for real! 😍

I’m finally continuing watching this from episode 18 after putting it on-hold because I was watching Pursuit of Jade ongoing (it feels weird seeing ZLH in both dramas so I put one on-hold). Hope this one remains good until the end! It feels weird seeing soft ZLH here after spending around a month seeing him so commanding and powerful in Pursuit of Jade 😅

IKR! I looked at the time 5PM (when it’s usually released in my timezone) and it feels weird not watching a new episode 🥹

Xigu Lane, I miss you!!

They.. broke up and get back together multiple times. But it’s all relatively fast.

There is a flashback scene at the end of episode 39 continuing to a full flashback explanation scene in the beginning of episode 40.

When will we get another C-drama with cinematography this good.. 🥹

It feels weird not watching a new PoJ episode tonight 🥲

Thank you! The last sentence in this review is not based on a quote from the drama. I wrote it to say that the simple life and the person Chang Yu was at the beginning were more meaningful and more powerful than all the glory she achieved later as a general. On a deeper note, I meant that her strength as a person mattered more than her power as a general. Metaphorically, I want to say that the butcher’s knife (her life, her humanity, her roots) shone brighter than the general’s sword (her status, power, war achievements). I guess I liked her in Xigu Lane the most.

Their time in Lin’an and Xigu Lane is the highlight of this show for real!

Just finished the drama 😭 I’m glad the ending gave closure after an underwhelming climax in episode 39. The easter egg scene was also a cute “what if” episode!
