SUCH A GOOD TRHILLER

Forgotten is one of those Korean thrillers that grabs you from the first scene and doesn’t let go until the final reveal. The whole movie feels like a giant maze — every time you think you understand what’s going on, it flips on you again.
I loved how tense and unsettling the atmosphere was. You can feel that something is “off” the entire time, especially after the brother comes back from his 19-day disappearance acting like a completely different person. It’s creepy in a quiet, psychological way, not a jump-scare way.
And the plot twist? Absolutely wild. It hits hard emotionally too, because the story suddenly recontextualizes everything you’ve been watching. I finished the movie just sitting there like, “Wait… what did I just watch?” in the best way possible.
It’s smart, tight, emotional, and extremely well-acted. If you like thrillers that make your brain spin while also punching you in the feelings, Forgotten is definitely worth it.

Lost In Lust Lost In Thought

This movie is one of those rare films that seems to require the same kind of creative mind that envisioned it in the first place. I’d say I have maybe 40% of that mindset myself, and to be honest, this one left me very, very confused. I read comments, reviews, and did some research, but I’m still left questioning what I just watched. Maybe that’s the whole point, it’s not meant to be overly deep or fully clear. It seems designed to make you feel lost and disconnected, to leave you uncertain about what you’re supposed to feel.

After reflecting on it, I think this is exactly how Sun felt throughout the film. He looks depressed, like he has nothing left to live for, and you get the sense that he’s searching for a spark or some sense of purpose. It seems possible he had a partner before all this, someone who is no longer in his life. We never know the details, but that absence could explain a lot about his behavior. Perhaps he’s craving that connection again, the intimacy he’s lost, which is why he attends the orgy. He might think the experience will make him feel something, but with strangers who are only there for physical pleasure, that feeling never comes.

The other characters seem to have their own stories and backgrounds, though I couldn’t quite piece them together, maybe I’m missing something, maybe not. This isn’t exactly my cup of tea; I recognize it’s very artistic, and I can see how others might appreciate it more. The film is undeniably dark, abstract, and difficult to interpret. Maybe it has a specific meaning, or maybe it’s intentionally left open-ended, so each viewer creates their own interpretation. Regardless, I can respect the artistry and thought that went into it. With more context, I think it could have ranked higher on my personal scale.

Overall: 6/10

Yellow, Love, & Second Chances.

Stumbled upon this film randomly without knowing anything about it, and I'm so glad I did because I ended up loving it.

The premise is unusual and a bit chaotic at first, but that's what makes it interesting. It slowly pulls you in, and before you know it, you're trying to piece everything together along with the characters. I really liked the contrast between the two leads. Their interactions seem simple at first, but there's something underneath that makes you keep watching. I also appreciated how the tone shifts — from light and playful to something more bittersweet. I was a little confused at one point, but everything coming together later made it worth it. That moment of realization is what stood out to me the most. Even though this isn't usually my type of film, I enjoyed how it focused on subtle emotions and small gestures rather than being overly dramatic. Overall, it's a unique and heartfelt story about connection and second chances, and I'm glad I gave it a chance and so should you. <3

Ending with the OST lyrics, "I love you, I love you more than myself..."

Trauma, Desire, and the Search for Redemption

Love Exposure is the kind of film that sounds completely unhinged on paper: four hours long, packed with perversion, religion, cults, and trauma ~ and yet somehow feels effortless to watch. What starts as a goofy, almost absurd comedy slowly reveals itself as something much darker and more emotionally loaded.

At first, the film leans hard into exaggerated humor, using absurd situations to poke at fundamental issues in Japanese society ~ especially repression, shame, and the strange ways morality is enforced. But beneath that chaotic surface, there’s a deeply unsettling core: abuse within families, sexual trauma, and the quiet devastation of being emotionally neglected by the people who are supposed to love you most.

One of the film’s most striking ideas is how trauma reshapes people. Characters don’t just suffer, they transform. Pain turns them into something else, sometimes even into executioners of their own twisted sense of justice. It’s uncomfortable, but also very human in the way it shows how damage gets recycled rather than healed.

And then there’s love ~ messy, obsessive, irrational love. The film seems to ask whether love can actually redeem people or if it just gives them another excuse to spiral. Sex, throughout the film, isn’t liberating ~ it’s destabilizing. It pushes characters into choices they don’t fully understand, blurring the line between devotion, obsession, and self-destruction.

The cult element is another major pillar. It’s not just there for shock value ~ it reflects how fragile people, especially those carrying deep emotional wounds, are drawn to systems that promise healing and belonging. The film portrays this with surprising empathy: these aren’t just “brainwashed victims,” but people desperately trying to make sense of their pain.

Despite its length, Love Exposure never feels pretentious. In fact, the four hours fly by. The pacing is deceptively sharp, constantly shifting tones and escalating stakes so that you’re never stuck in one emotional register for too long. Just when things feel too ridiculous, it hits you with something painfully sincere ~ and vice versa.

Visually and thematically, it’s also highly symbolic. Characters and situations often operate on a larger metaphorical level, but the film never gets lost in its own ideas. It stays grounded in raw emotion, which keeps it from feeling overly intellectual or detached.

In the end, Love Exposure is chaotic, uncomfortable, funny, and strangely moving. It’s a film about damage, desire, and the fragile hope that love ~ however distorted ~ might still mean something.

More a feeling than a story

Soft, slow, and very much a “vibe over plot” kind of film. I could see why people describe it as more of a feeling than a story, because it really lives in silences, glances, and moments that aren’t fully explained. At times I felt like I was just sitting with the characters rather than following a clear narrative. I did appreciate the atmosphere, it’s delicate and almost hypnotic, but I also understand why some people find it distant. I kept wanting to feel more, to be pulled in emotionally, but it stayed just out of reach.
It’s one of those films I admire more than I actually connect with. Beautiful, thoughtful, but more “artistic” than truly engaging for me.

My March Recommendation movie

Watched this for my Recommendation Challenge from 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕1221. Let’s talk movie…

The story follows Wu Ming-han (MH), a hot-headed, homophobic, and highly superstitious police officer. Because of his brash, arrogant & reckless behavior on the job, his superior officer assigned him to neighborhood cleanup duty (picking up trash) as a disciplinary punishment.

While he was grumbling and picking up litter with his tongs, he spotted the red envelope in the street. Thinking it was just another trash to be cleared, he picked it up—and that's when an old lady yelled and suddenly the rest of the group appeared & surrounded him, claiming he was the chosen groom. According to local folklore, this means he has "consented" to a ghost marriage with the deceased owner. The owner is Mao Mao (MM), a young gay man who died in a mysterious hit-and-run accident.

Terrified and unwilling—especially because the groom is a man—MH tries to refuse. But after experiencing a series of bizarre and life-threatening incidents, he has no choice but to go through with the ritual.

To his horror, after the wedding, MH begins to see and communicate with MM. Unlike the scary vengeful spirit MH expected, MM is not scary and quite quirky. MM simply can’t move on to the afterlife because he has "unfulfilled wishes."

The two strike a deal: if MH helps MM fulfill his final wishes and uncover the truth behind his death, MM will move on to the afterlife and leave MH alone.

As they investigate, they discover that MM’s death wasn't just an accident—it was a hit-and-run committed by a notorious drug lord, Lin Hsiao-yuan—a target MH is already pursuing. Now, two missions become one, MH and MM work together: MH handles the real-world investigation, while MM uses his ghostly abilities to assist from the shadows.

Through their journey, MH begins to change—not just about spirits, but about love, identity, and what it means to truly see someone.

And when the final moment comes… How will it all end?
Will MM finally find peace—and cross over to the afterlife?
Or will he simply… disappear?

That's pretty much the story without giving anymore spoilers.

What I like:
+ Some scenes are simply just hit the spot, some are funny (like when MH first met MM), but some are also so sad (like the last scene).
+ When prejudice meets their karma not all end up bad…
+ The unexpected betrayal….

What I’m not too like:
- The scene sometimes is just too exaggerated & silly.

Overall this is a really good movie to watch….

Same storytelling with different story but...

Griping storytelling but the story itself give off a feel of being. Fake. Now obviously china hasn’t fought any war with anybody after they got their Modern military technology so they Don't have any story to tell. And then they make up a fantasy based country and write story on it while keeping their diplomatic views on top. Basically this is it! But the Director has done it all to make it look realistic and i love this thing about him. Overall fight sequences felt good but Could've been better. Comparing to Operation red sea (2018) and story this time fake but wouldn’t feel like It's fake if it wasn’t nuclear program 🥲 that's it, everything else is good.

Since It's a submarine movie It's CGI must be on topic and it was AWESOME!

Only difference is, i have Watched operation red sea over 100x but thia one is one go and then okay I'm done with it. Foe once It's 8/10 bot if i go for 2nd time it will be 7.9/10

A great movie

It's a great action movie, but it's hard to recap with a few words because there are many things happening, and you can quickly give away a spoiler. In terms of plot and acting, it was brilliant, and it has a stellar cast. You need a bit of history brush-up so you can understand it all, but the movie does a good job explaining it all.

The original battle

I think I watched Battle Royale for the first time around 2003-2004, and I was very young and had no business watching this movie. However, I say this is definitely one of those movies that marked most of millennials' lives. Whether you are a Japanese movie fan or not, if you were a '90s kid, you would have watched this.

Watching now, after over 20 years, it feels crazy. The story is so crazy and needs a huge trigger warning to anyone who is planning to watch it. There are a number of scenes of death in the most brutal way, so definitely, if you can't watch these types of stuff, I would suggest skipping this movie. However, taking into consideration how gore some of Battle Royale's offspring, like Squid Game, is, I don't think it's as violent, but if you are sensitive, then it's a whole other argument.

There are a few things I want to say. For me, this was one of those movies that I remember from my childhood, and it's an experience, not just a movie. In fact, this movie was the inspiration for many other similar concepts you will find. If you are watching this now for the first time, you will find so many flaws in it, but I want you to remember that this was done in 2000, so there were no fancy filters and special effects with the most powerful software in the market. So, watch this with an open mind, remembering this took place years ago. Also, this movie is based on a manga, and undoubtedly, the manga is far superior and darker than the movie because I don't think you can really depict in a movie the horror and darkness the same way a book can.

Battle Royale is an experience; it's the original that led to many modern-day replicates, but yet its message never stops: a world where we are forced to fight against each other instead of the powers that be. Rather than being permitted to challenge the gatekeepers, we turn on each other in desperation to survive. And yet, communities continue regardless.

spicy,funny, sweet touch

First of all, you have to deal with eroticism and " small porn scenes" to watch the movie.
I liked the movie. Yes, it was mainly erotic, but it also had a good plot, funny scenes, and a cute "couple". Even though I would have liked more cute scenes of the couple.
The scene in the elevator with him and her cell phone made me laugh (iykyk).
It's also very sweet why she started writing the Fairy Tail stories. I also liked that she decided to do what she wanted.

Soft, Simple, Yet Deeply Moving

Pavane tells the story of three people, each struggling with their own life problems. At first glance, the trope of a handsome man and an “unattractive” woman might feel familiar, but this film presents it in a refreshing and different way.

I genuinely loved everything about this movie—the storyline, the characters, their chemistry, and even the cinematography. It all comes together beautifully.

What makes the story feel so fresh to me is its setting. It focuses on the lives of a mall parking attendant and a sales promotion girl (SPG), which is something I’ve rarely, if ever, seen in films or dramas. And surprisingly, I ended up loving it so much—our “poor couple” really stole my heart.

Even though the film has a slow pace, I didn’t feel bored at all. In fact, despite its nearly two-hour runtime, it felt surprisingly fast to me—which says a lot about how engaging the story is.

As for the chemistry, I honestly didn’t expect much at first because of the noticeable age gap. However, their acting completely changed my perspective. They made the relationship feel so genuine and beautiful. What stood out even more wasn’t just the romantic chemistry, but also the warmth of their friendship. Even though they didn’t have many scenes showing them spending time together, simple moments—like eating together after work—felt incredibly meaningful and intimate.

The acting overall was amazing—truly a perfect cast. Moon Sang-min did an especially great job. I could really feel his emotions in every scene, and his performance left a strong impact on me.

The film doesn’t go deeply into each character’s backstory, but somehow, you can still understand their struggles and why they live the way they do. That subtle storytelling makes it even more powerful.

Even though I didn’t cry, the ending still left me feeling sad and bittersweet.

The cinematography and overall tone of the film are also incredibly beautiful—I completely fell in love with them.

If I could rate this movie, I wouldn’t just give it a 10/10—I’d give it a 10.000/10. It’s just that good.

A painful but necessary watch

I usually never write reviews, I've been watching asian shows and movies for years but never felt the need to write a review. After watching this movie, I just feel like have to. I'm also pretty picky about giving a good rate to a show or a movie but this one... man how can I not?

Idk where to start but 1st of all, this movie **is not for everyone**, I started watching this movie just based on the cover of the movie, I wasn't aware it's a well-known movie so TW!!! Fortunately, I can handle these subjects so I was able to actually watch the movie. Even if I knew where the direction of this movie was going into, I still wanted to watch it by curiosity but also for understanding how painful such experience for the victim and her family, it can be. It is SO SO important to educate people and show what it is like, because it can happen to anyone, no matter what their sex and age is. And this movie taught me SO MUCH on how it is so important to really be there for one and other, even in the little things. How important it is to have a community. Without the support of the friends and the therapist, how would that family survive? That is a very genuine question I'm asking because not only the father needed money to cover the hospital bills for his daughter but also his wife since she's pregnant BUT also just simply the emotional support. Just imagine how painful and lonely it is for the victims and their family who have no one to rely on. This is why such movies are so important just to let alone show how community, asking help, never giving up, being there for each other or having hope is primordial for surviving. And yes, it may seem dramatic a bit to say it like that but for them it's like dying, knowing their child went through something so horrible, not being sure if the aggressor (that mf) will get the punishment he deserves...

One scene for me which really touched me was when the parents say they wanted other kids to go through what their daughter went through and they really feel bad that they think like that. As a woman who never went through SA, nor my surroundings, I fully understand what they mean and I do not blame them at all. There's this raw truth in this movie that made me feel like I was not watching a movie, almost unfortunately like a documentary. Only later did I learn that this movie was inspired by true events... Truy horrific... But this is why it is so important to watch this movie and respect the work.

The acting? Man 100/10, I mean I felt everything to my bones, I cried idk how many times, the actors did an excellent excellent job. It must have been difficult for them so I can't even imagine irl how terrible and horrific it would feel, just thinking about it I want to cry ugh. But the little girl? WOW she did an outstanding job, I hope she was not traumatized from playing in this movie and that it did not affect her today as an adult.

The production was great, nothing bad to say. The pacing of the movie was beautiful, the scenes were cut nicely, everything felt coherent and heartfelt. I really liked and was very touched about the scene where the little girl was explaining her worries to her therapist that she's worried her friends wouldn't want to see her or that she is ashamed after knowing what happened to her. And throughout the scene, we see the kids from the school sticking drawings on the door of their home to let her know they think of her. Man I cried a lot... But it was very beautiful and sad, because she thought no one would want to care about her after what happened but little did she know everyone cared and thought about her. This is also why I think the movie did a good job to show how therapy is important and necessary for feeling heard and understood even in the most difficult times.

I also think they showed really well the psychological consequences after a such horrific crime not only for the girl, but also for the parents and how it impacts the family dynamic. It was healing to see their relationship get stronger by the end of the movie and the newborn, I think really was a good timing for bringing them even closer. That last line really hit me because it's little things that bring joy even when someone went through the most horrible thing ever.

Rewatch value is a 2 for me because it would cause me sm pain and sadness to go through this movie again. OFC I'll recommand this to people who are curious about these topics. Like I said, it is important to educate people and show the impact and the consequences it can bring.

It's a long review, I don't think anyone would read this much but yeah this is a 10/10, a difficult watch but necessary one. I hope the victims and their family are doing well.... Oh also f**ck the justice system and the police officiers who won't move their butt like omg.... i was so MAD but hey unfortunately that's the reality we live in... Like the title of the movie says, let's not lose hope :)

The Countdown to Confusion

You’ll want to stay focused and pay close attention to details while watching Ritual ~ but even then, you’ll likely be left with questions. The ambiguity is intentional, shaping an experience that leans as much into confusion as it does into intrigue.

At its core, the film is a descent into the strange, but more importantly, into the gradual unraveling of mental health. It’s a slow burn that sustains itself through a constant sense of tension and the unexpected, keeping you on edge while pulling you deeper into its unsettling world.

The recurring countdown acts as a clever anchor, maintaining your engagement despite the film’s oddities. It creates a quiet urgency that keeps you watching, even as things grow more obscure. And through it all, you’ll find yourself wanting to understand these characters ~ who they are, what they’re going through, and where this strange journey is leading them.

A slight variation on a trope that worked for me

First, this is going to be confusing with addressing who is who. I'll try to keep it simple with just addressing the leads as they are after the swap, and ML (male lead, male body) and FL (female lead, female body).

We start off with our two mains meeting at a cafe in their hometown at the age of 30. We learn that at age 15 they somehow swapped bodies in the swimming pool and were unable to find a way to switch them back. This means they've spent half their lives as the other person.
The journey that our main characters go through are well thought out. One of them seemingly quickly adjusting, and the other struggling to adapt. As the story goes on we learn the layers to each of their stories and really start to feel for the two of them.
What I found extremely interesting is that their own relationship with each other is not what I expected at all. The two didn't seem close. They lived as the other and when they meet they try to address each other as if talking about what the other person did. I found it a bit hard and had to keep in the back of my mind that they are swapped through their journey in life and their interactions with each other.

On the surface, this is a drama genre movie with great acting, an interesting long term body swap premise that I haven't seen before, and a male and female relationship throughout time in this bizarre situation. There is a purpose to the movie other than living as each other and I think about it a lot even after watching. However, I think if you are the type of person who needs a black and white perspective regarding certain decisions made by characters or writers, I don't think this will be 100% satisfactory.
There is a deeper layer to the movie as well. Thinking about the situations from each of the characters' perspectives and how it all ends up I think was done very well. Revisiting certain parts to understand the characters more I think will paint a broader and potentially more important picture.

Apologies for being intentionally vague but I think it is important to watch it for yourself and with a good mindset. One final thing, I stupidly thought that a body swap meant you would just pair up with your swapped person, but no, that's probably the last thing someone would do. Can't Cry With Your Face is a more realistic take in this impossible scenario.

Brilliant!

K-Pop Demon Hunters truly lives up to the hype surrounding it. The film is fun, entertaining, and features an amazing soundtrack. It also explores important themes such as self-discovery, acceptance, heritage, racism, idol fixation, and even love.

I particularly appreciated was that, in the end, the story wasn’t solely focused on the romantic elements, but rather on sacrifice and the strength found in our bonds with loved ones and family. This approach felt quite refreshing.

There is much to love about this movie, and it’s important to note that it’s not just aimed at young audiences – adults can enjoy it too!
