LOVED THE STORY!!
I read the OG manhwa when it first came out, and then I watched the k-drama, so of course I had to watch this! I was OBSESSED from episode 1! I think I enjoyed this even more than the k-drama and it did the manhwa JUSTICE. I love how the rules regarding her traveling back in time were more complex and detailed. It added so much to the story. Sometimes, when a character travels back in time, the story forgets about it and the whole premise is a let down. I did not feel that way about this drama at ALL; the characters traveling back in time was extremely relevantThe only thing I would say was a SLIGHT (very slight) letdown was that the downfall of Misa's best friend and ex was not as satisfying as I'd hoped (although it WAS satisfying). Their end honestly felt like an easy escape when compared to everything Misa suffered through. Regardless, I loved this show and would definitely rewatch! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, exciting show :D

Korean version is way better
Here is my honest review since most of the reviews by a lot of influencers were sponsored. No hate to the actors but the drama is not as good as how the influencers have hyped up the show.Marry my husband Korean version gave me soo much adrenaline rush and the revenge part hit soo hard. But the Japanese version did not. (Like it was soo satisfying to watch the villains get married in Korean version here it was veryy meh) The revenge part was not at all hitting hard. The main actors have done a great job but the villains were not strong enough. This version also lacked humor. One thing better than the Korean version I'd say is the Ending (the Korean version dragged the ending with Boa's character)
For me the perfect version would be Korean version till the villains get married and the Japanese version after the villains get married.

ooo okay i see u japan!
as much as i loved this show, let me say that i could not stop comparing it to the korean version. yes they are 2 very seperate but similar shows and thats on me. anyway, i really did like this show and i wish they gave us more of a big ending bc yes they did end up tg but i wanted some kids 💔. i liked the ML's character and actor. he was on top of his game and i will be checking into more of his dramas. i feel like everyone in the show did their big one and not just the leads bc reina and tomoya had be fed up! i really loved the concept of like the book in a room and like rewriting the story bc it did fit the theme of the show anyway. also the scene where reina had messed up misa and tomoya's engagement by announcing her "pregnancy" was phenomenal. it was very curated ig? idk how to explain it but them (misa and reina) being on stage while wataru was watching felt so satisfying. misa finally lived her dreams of being on stage :) this show will get a 9/10 for me js bc i felt like it needed more (idk what) but it was a very great adaptation. Was this review helpful to you?
Karma is a B.
After careful consideration, I decided to experience the Japanese version. My decision was also influenced by Takeru Satoh, whose work I have admired since his drama 'An Incurable Case of Love'. I found this version to be a worthwhile viewing experience. While the Korean version remains unparalleled in its depth and detail, both adaptations effectively convey the core narrative despite their differences.Currently, I am seeking recommendations for dramas within the revenge genre, as "DEAR X" is not yet complete. This particular drama was highly enjoyable, especially witnessing the protagonist's transformation through self-love. Sei Shiraishi's portrayal of the antagonist was exceptionally compelling, and the numerous scenes that evoked strong emotions kept me engaged and motivated to complete the series. The entire cast delivered outstanding performances. This marks my first experience watching two different versions of the same drama.
I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for other compelling villain and revenge-themed dramas. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

well done!
Very charming and healing romance drama! I had low expectations because of my disappointment with the Korean drama, but this drama really surprised me. This was a drama more about emotional healing and personal growth.Story: It's about Misa who has a second chance at her life after going back in time after her dying. She has a chance to change her life while getting revenge on those that killed her. This drama was more slice of life and introspective and had more character development than the kdrama, which I felt was all melodrama and makjang. Misa was able to grow and prioritize herself. The revenge wasn't as dramatic as the kdrama but was still satisfactory. The romance was super sweet and adorable, with Misa and Wataru both being awkward but cute together. I loved the slow burn romance and their proposal scene was so romantic!
And of course the villains! Reina has some serious problems. I appreciate that the drama showed how someone's childhood can affect their life. she was a great foil to Misa. Toyoma was actually kinda meh in this drama and the husband in the kdrama was better.
Cast: Koshiba Fuka did wonderful showing Misa's growth and character development. And Satoh Takeru absolutely nailed it as Wataru. These two had great chemistry.
Shiraishi Sei's performance as Reina was intense! She did such a good job showing Reina's breakdown. I do think Lee Yi Kyung in the kdrama for the husband role did much better than Yokoyama Yu.
Overall, I'm glad I watched this! 9/10

Boring and unnecessary
The leads, particularly the FL both had the same pained expression in every episode. They seem to have been written to somewhat unlikeable. There was no humor which made the show rather boring. She just managed to avoid repeating decisions in her previous life without any ownership or personal growth. The whole show felt very superficial, but that may be the hazard of being a remake of a very recent series. Was this review helpful to you?

Great drama adaptation from a webtoon
First thing first, I rarely watch a drama adapter from webtoon especially if I have read the webtoon. I’ve read and watched Business Proposal. While I love and reread the webtoon many times, I can’t say the same about the drama. This review might be lengthy and contains major spoiler so please bear with me 🙂I’ve watched this drama purely out of the boredom. The first time I’ve tried to watch this, I just left within the first 5 minutes. But then, at one night i just need something to read/watch before bed so I decided to continue this drama. The initial plan of watching 1 episode ended up to watch 3 episodes as I’m HOOKED!! Now, I didn’t watch the Korean version as it didn’t interest me enough (business proposal trauma 🫣) so I can’t compare. But what I like the most is they keep the essentials from the webtoon while also adding a twist that feels original and coherent with the overall story.
I know that Jdorama have shorter episodes compare to Kdrama, so they really focusing the story on the 4 main leads (more on Misa and Wataru, less on Reina and Tomoya). So I felt I a bit bummed they didn’t really explore on Ms. Sumiyoshi’s story (the cheating, illness, and the child kidnappintg attempt) nor Miku and Yuto’s relationship as they did in the webtoon, but it’s understandable. It’s a nice touch to mention the Covid outbreak as it happens within the last 10 years.
Now, Reina’s character in the webtoon tends to be more annoying and childish while her character in this drama is just straight up devil and messed up. When we were showed little Reina’s circumstances, we might feel sympathy with her. But as story goes towards the end, she just wiped out all of the sympathy viewers had on her as she kept being unapologetically evil. I really enjoy Shiraisi’s acting as Reina because she can make you wish all the worst to her character. Tomoya’s character both in webtoon and Jdorama are equally annoying and trash. But her mom’s character is quite funny actually in the dorama.
Koshiba and Takeru’s chemistry is just *chef kiss* very great acting from both of them are delivered. I love the mature relationship they have in second life (though the act where Wataru saying harsh things to Misa to “keep her safe” is too Kdrama-ish lol). I also love that they did everything that Wataru have wished for by the end of episode. Too bad we didn’t get their wedding as a finale. I personally think they should make a 1.5 hour for the last episode because I really need more of their interactions 😌
Several things that are different between the webtoon and the dorama:
1. The pet changes from cat to turtle (I read that turtle has its own symbolic in Japan)
2. Wataru is not Misa’s direct supervisor while he is in the webtoon
3. The way the Misa and Wataru’s death in first timeline as well as Reina and Tomoya’s death in second timeline is different compare to webtoon (although I kinda forget whether Jihyuk dead or not in the webtoon)
4. Misa’s grandmother is an addition for the sake of plot. They don’t have this character in the webtoon
I think this is very nice drama adaptation out of webtoon. Korea production studio and writers should take notes from this writer to deliver the essence of the webtoon while making it quite original and not to add too much unnecessary filler (😷 😷 Business Proposal 😷 😷). If you have read the novel, I think you would not be disappointed by this version.

It's a bit bland compared to the Korean version
The leads in this one had great chemistry & especially the ML fit the role better than his Korean counterpart. The production is great, with wonderful cinematography & some very attractive OST songs.Ultimately why I think the Korean version is better is because outside of the main romance everything regarding the plot is better there. Sure the Japanese adaptation is similar enough, the main plot is still essentially the same, however the excitement & the vengeful plotting is largely toned down in the J. version. The kdrama is a makjang that is unusually tame and tolerable & this one is no longer in that genre. Which is not necessarily negative, but the side characters whether it's the casting or their re-characterization are strongly on the boring side and so is the corporate plot presented this way. So in my mind we went from 50% romance 50% entertaining vengeance plotting to 50% romance, 50% boring filler. Nonetheless this drama is still worth a watch for the leads..

Korean vibe!
Just finished watching this series and honestly, I’d recommend it. It was pretty entertaining for a bunch of reasons. First off, the actors really nailed their roles. And the plot twists? They showed up at just the right moments and kept things exciting. That said, there were a couple of things that made me rate it a bit lower. The biggest one for me was that it had a very strong Korean drama vibe. Since I usually watch Japanese dramas, I picked up on that style right away, and it felt a little off to me.
Also, the tone was kind of all over the place—sometimes it felt like a typical drama with gossip, betrayal, and office drama; other times it leaned into crime thriller territory; and then suddenly it would shift into something almost supernatural.
Still, overall, it was a fun watch and I’d say it’s worth checking out.

the perfect way to perfect a revenge story; amazing acting and an even better execution.
i read the manhwa when it first came out, i didn't know it would blow up enough to get a kdrama adaptation and now we have jdrama one, i didnt see the kr ver but this one? takes the cakelet me start off with everything i loved about it, this will be a lil comparison to the webtoon.
-the FL, they did an amazing job picking her out, fuka koshiba DELIVEREDDD, i loved how the first few episodes were her getting herself back, enjoying what she couldn't in her first life, before getting her revenge
-the ML, they gave him an actual personality in this remake, in the webtoon his character was flat, he only showed up when the fl needed his help and jst to be an eye candy, here? thanks to takeru Satao, not only was his character a treat to see but also genuinely enjoyable,he had his passions, hobbies and a sense of humour, i loved it.
-reina, the actress played her perfectly HELLO?!, she didn't annoy me one bit bcz she played her character so well, not as a green tea bitch but as genuinely mentally troubled character, they gave actual REASONS (not justification) for her behaviors, the last scene of her and misa in the last episode was beautiful as well
-tomoya, again, they didn't make him one dimensional, his character was more than an annoying ex.
-the revenge was carried out perfectly, not overbearing or too in your face, it was simple and felt natural and oh so satisfying.
-the ending, i was getting skeptical when it wasn't going the way it ended in the webtoon, only to realize they made it 100 times better.
what i didn't like:
-i already knew the story so the show except for the last 2 episodes were lackluster for me, except for misas ''makeover'' parts bcz fuka koshiba ATEEEE
solid 9/10, its way better if you want a genuinely good revenge story, this drama is like poetry to me, way better than any makjang childish revenge story, WATCH ITTTT

Life is not a game.
The directing was lovely, the acting was nice. The creativity was really obvious in this version. The writing wasn't mediocre, but I didnt really like it. I did appreciate how they adapt the story in the 10ep format.
I can definitely affirm this version is better than the korean one mainly because the execution was far more profound that the korean version who's attempt was really just about entertaining the audience using women sufferings as most of the time kdramas tend to do since many years now.
It was deeper (I liked the dialogues, especially in the first part), but also a bit childish. There was no real attempt to delve into the complexity of the characters. It was a little strange, because they portrayed the story on a superficial level, but the display of emotions was profound in my opinion. Psychology has been largely neglected in the writing. And that's the second thing that annoyed me the most.
Japanese dramas have this ability to present many stories as true journeys, but often tend to neglect or wash out what needs more detail and focus.
They always have the ability to hide what they know they can't portray well and so deliberately choose not to even try, pretending it wasn't necessary anyway (LOL). Kdramas, on the other hand, are more willing to try, but their arrogance and quest for western validation makes them so delusional when it comes to acknowledging their flaws to avoid repeating them, which leads them to repeat them over and over again while thinking they ate.
I didn't like the writing for one precise reason, there is, in my opinion, something morally questionable and uncomfortable about depicting life, especially the suffering of women, without attempting to grasp its seriousness and impact on real life.
This whole time thing, where we see the fl going back in time and while living again, witnessing how her life used to be was filmed in a way that I find very insensitive.
They tried to film the whole thing as some sort of game, video game, or even some sort of virtual reality where the fl has to operate in a certain way in hit her goals ... With such strong themes as misogyny, womanhood, v'olences against women, m-rders, etc etc
I was disappointed by the way the series deviated from what should have been a more responsible narrative, where the priority was to portray the story with dignity and respect for the weight of its subjects.
I feel like most recent dramas no longer have the ambition to portray life as something sacred, where the dignity of everything that exists and happens is respected.
Not everything has to be portrayed in an entertaining way to keep the audience alert, especially when they are about very triggering themes ... I don't mind comedy in serious drama of course, that's not what I'm taking about. I'm talking about depictions in a larger sense.
There's no need to distort everything to avoid making the real effort to grasp the very essence of life and the lives that composes it... Life is not a game.
I'm a lowkey getting depressed to see that 97% of dramas now refuse to take life seriously.
Either we end up with dramas that are meant to be ultra-performative and dramatic, or ones where the tone is misplaced and insensitive or those who focus on demonstrating and preaching to an audience they believe to be stupid and incapable of critical thinking.
Where has the poetry, the contemplation, the questioning, the non-answers, the unsaid, the silence, the ambiguities, the grey areas, etc. gone?
SIGH.
ps : I invite you to try the Taiwanese drama "Imperfect Ones" (2024) if you are interested in watching the theme of female rivalry, the issue of personality and womanhood portrayed in a much more mature and fascinating way.

A script writer to follow
The story is well paced and with a solid development even with all the time leaps. There are no lags in the story line nor filler scenes . On the whole it is well crafted as were the old dramas of the golden era. I'll look up for other dramas by the script writer as i enjoyed his work .Somewhat disappointed with Satoh Takeru 's acting here as i find him stiff . However the FL is convincing in her role and as the story progresses her acting becomes full of nuances. She's come a long way from Kanojo wa kirei datta. The other female actress was extremely annoying imo.
I particularly enjoyed some of the visual cues. Somebody else caught on the kimi no na wa stairs?
