I’m surprised to see how low the rating is for this drama. I absolutely enjoyed watching this drama a lot. It…
I liked this drama, but it won't go down as one of my favourites personally... Some aspects were great, the OST, the special effects and the sets etc. I also found that the philosophy and mentality of the drama was very moving, certain parts reminded me of The Long Ballad when Changge becomes enlightened. I liked that.
I think there were some aspects however, that could have been improved. The ending for one, also I think the supporting characters dominated too much while the main characters sometimes felt like supporting characters. I think they could have cut down on them and side stories, and focused more on the leads. Secondly, even though I think both Dilreba and Allen Ren both performed well, for me there was something lacking, I can't put my finger on it exactly.
There are 18 haters who like negative reviews above. is it real person or just one person with 18 different accounts…
Maybe there are just some people who don't share your view... That's ok isn't it? I'm sure there are some dramas that I loved that you disliked and vice versa.
They're recasting the leads with Lee Joon Gi as Eun Som and Shin Se Kyung as Tanya:https://www.soompi.com/article/1522853wpp/lee-joon-gi-and-shin-se-kyung-in-talks-to-lead-2nd-season-of-arthdal-chroniclesFeel…
I'm so annoyed. I just found out. Honestly, this is why I'm so hesitant to watch Asian dramas done in seasons. I don't trust them to not disappoint me with a change of cast.
AND THIS is why you can't trust Asian dramas that have seasons, because they have zero loyalty to the first season. Either Season 2 never comes or they replace the main leads! What are they thinking?!
You're welcome! First time I watched it I loved how unpredictable the plot was but because everything is so shrouded in mystery and as it unfolds, it yoyos the viewer between theories about what is going on. The second time I watched it I saw so many references and clues I missed the first time round!
Also, Sang Un is the true partner of Hwal, and there is some jealousy there I think... There were kind of gay undertones in Ok Eul Tae's obsession with Hwal. He says at the end "Why do you always choose her? Why can't you look at me?"
You're welcome! I just rewatched the drama and understood it much better the second time, I suggest you try it too!
Honestly, they never clarify on the subject of Ok Eul Tae's belief that killing Sang Un will close his dark hole. But I think it's like this...
Ok Eul Tae was extremely mentally unstable to begin with and that only got worse. When Bulgasal Hwal (1st Life) died he took Ok Eul Tae's soul and put his "evil spirit" inside Ok Eul Tae causing the dark hole. He commanded Ok Eul Tae to find him and turn him back in his next life. I think Ok Eul Tae set up the whole situation in the woods so that he could honour his promise to Hwal but avoiding the return of his soul. Ok Eul Tae doesn't want to become human again. So by using Sang Un, Hwal becomes Bulgasal but Ok Eul Tae stays Bulgsal. Then he sets out to destroy his own soul (in Sang Un) because then he will never have to be human again, or at least that's his belief (or delusion), this is why he is in terrible pain every time he hurts her, because he is actually hurting himself.

Good but not great.
