I'm confused. Is this supposed to be a big number or a small one? Because I've definitely seen dramas where the…
She is actually a lower level princess. She is given the title Shangyang Princess at her coming of age ceremony. There isn't an English language equivalent for her rank (before she marries Xiao Qi). Sometimes they sub what her title is as "Commandery Princess". If her father had been a Grand Prince, she probably would have received the title automatically.

As usual, it is a totally weird and random English title that isn't a translation of the Chinese. Seriously, who makes these titles up? I think the original novel title is Monarch Industry or Emperor Industry. Not sure how "Shangyang Fu" translates.
Ok... here is a bit of fun now. Have you count how many times Xiao Qi saved A' Wu? lolI count them. 1/ At the…
Hahaha Knight in Shining Armour complex. Tbf most C drama ML "heroes" are like this, also check Story of Minglan, the ML is a guardian angel there lol.
It was a bit unnatural and hard to watch Zhang Ziyi and the other actress acting as young teenagers, to be honest.…
All C dramas do this unfortunately, they will only cast a "younger version" if it's a young child. But let's face it, even 25 year olds don't look like 15 year olds... I would really like to see more C dramas start to cast teen actors and actresses if the characters need to grow up...! Thankfully she grows up fast...! Actually she does look very young for her age, but 15 is pushing it lol.
More like previous life, since Yanxi Palace was set in the Qing Dynasty under the rule of the Qianlong Emperor (1700s) whereas this is set in the Ming Dynasty under the Yongle Emperor (1400s)! π But I like the idea! ππ
I think if you compared the CGI to any of the dramas you've mentioned side by side you'd find that TMOPB was almost cartoonish, but that was the norm a few years ago and still is for lower budget productions.
CGI has improved a lot in C dramas in recent years. In terms of technical artistic quality, SSS is on the same sort of level as ALP. Look at the Qiongqi monsters during the invasion on the bridge scene in the early episodes when the FL comes back from the Nether Realm, look at the skin of the monsters, especially the scales, and compare it to the level of detail on the skin of the creatures on this drama (e.g. the giant tortoise) and they're very similar in terms of quality. Really good CGI should create the right amount of light to blend the graphics with the "real" environment of the shot, but also texture and depth of contrast and colouring on a 3D object gives it a physicality. Compare that to the Golden Lion Beast CGI in TMOPB (when he fights Ye Hua in the town where he meets SuSu) and you'll see that it is very flat, no texture, more like a cartoon.
So, I don't think it's fair to criticise the CGI... By all means criticise their creative concept if you didn't like how they decided to portray things, but that has nothing to do with the artistic quality or execution. I mean, I thought the tiger creatures were an unnecessary addition... But I thought the fight between Li Chun Gang and Wang Xian Zhi was pretty impressive!
I'm currently watching most of the dramas that are on air and there are much better plots and interesting acting…
This could genuinely have been a hilarious comedy with this kind of theme... It is just so cringe and so boring and so cheesy and so uninteresting. It fails on every possible level for me. I am dropping it. It's not even worthy of filler status...
I think I have to drop this. It's just so boring and so cringeworthy, I can't watch any more of this cheap, tacky rubbish. Oh man, how did they manage to ruin this theme so thoroughly?
Why is this soooo boring? Is it the lack of any chemistry? The corny jokes? The incessant flashbacks? The uninteresting…
Agreed. I thought I try episode 7, but 2 minutes in and I'm both yawning and cringing. Spoiled rich girl stealing accessories again. YAWN. Crown Prince appears randomly and buys it for her and tells her it's more "meaningful" now that he has bought it for her. UGH. Good LORD. I don't know what it is about this drama, it just gets worse and worse.
Damn, hope it won't be a messy editing job from the cut in episodes.
